I think if you want to get a 285 or 255 under there you have to bend the brackets at a minimum or you will find the rear diff rubbing the spare. And those are as big as you can squeeze under there.
I'm in the same dilemma. I don't want to deal with a swing out since I have a topper and having all that extra weight swinging around back there can be a burden. And I got the AC with the the 6' bed for hauling stuff, not my spare.
The roof is not an option either, too many trade offs.
May have to bury my 35" dreams for awhile.
