Anyone take the cab vent apart? This is the vent that is located in the rear of the cab. Its job is to vent cabin pressure when you close the doors.

I think mine may be stuck open. I swear I can hear road noise from the passenger side, rear cab area. I keep forgetting to dig around in the back of the cab to see how it works. Maybe someone else has info on this part?

I've never taken one apart, but I'd enjoy trying. On yours :D

Before removal and tinkering you could give it a test by sealing it off with some tape, just to see if that kills the noise. Just leave a window cracked a bit so the door will close easy while it's taped up.

There were a few threads in the 3 gen section with a similar complaint. Several of those folks thought this vent was a new 'feature'. o_O

I'm stuck at work for the next 12 hours, or I would.

Is the vent accessible from inside? I can see it between the cab and box, but don't have access, since the space is so narrow. I definitely don't want to have to remove the box to gain access.

I would think it would have to be. I mean how else could it vent the cab pressure? But I'm sure it's buried behind the rear trim panel. Which may or may not be a pain to pull.

    Our trucks have vents?

mine must be stuck closed or something cause I've never been able to close my doors properly unless I have my moonroof propped up or a window at least cracked

I have to crack a window, or slam the door (which I don't do!). Since I installed rainshields and usually leave the windows cracked, no worries...

    Good find, Frizzman. :D

It looks like the 1st-gens have one on each side. I just checked mine, and I have those. Never noticed it.
Not sure if all years have them.

It's a cheap-ass check valve of sorts. You're going to hear outside noise. What made you notice it all of a sudden? I never paid attention to it until I removed the rear storage bins to do the Molle Panel install. Then I packed the void with packaging foam to help quiet it.

I was making a slow, right hand turn on gravel and the sound of crunching gravel could be heard real clear. At first I just thought the passenger door was ajar.

That foam idea looks like the way to go.
