FOX 2.0 IFP Coilover and Shock install DIY and review 2015 DCSB 4x4

We sure didn't take off the shocks to adjust them when we were racing, that's just stupid. You must have did something wrong, all you have to do is take the load off of them. Here is my race car to prove it. They were adjusted before every race. FOX SHOCKS.

 

Maybe thats why they changed the collars on them? They dont even look like they fit any sort of wrench as they look like finger grips rather than wrench notches? FML haha i might have to compress or use the punch method. I really dont wanna take them off

 

Those are aluminum bodied IFP Performance 2.0s?

Agreed, not the same shock. I have still adjusted mine, and granted, they are the 1st production series. But where does it say, you have to take them off? Never heard of such a thing.

 

And that's the issue, it doesn't say it anywhere. I had to find out the hard way and it looks like baurat88 did too. They converted to the new style and their claim is it's still adjustable just not on the truck. I called one tech and didn't believe him so I called back and was told I would destroy them on the truck by the manager.

985-02-002. IN the description it says adjustable ride height ring. well regardless..just hoping someone else out there has an answer so i dont have to keep removing them. Otherwise i'll have to bring it to my mechanic so i can put it on a lift. Not about to spend 3 hours per adjustment.

I don't disagree but that still won't change the facts.

 

I had mine professionally done. If anyone else feels like cranking on a pair of aluminum bodied 2.0s they're more than welcome to post them. I'm not that stupid.

 

Got any pics, I have posted a bunch, you can even see where I adjusted mine on the truck.

 

Pretty sure having 2 rings is also key. We cranked on them but the spring would bind and you could tell the threads would strip before it moved.

 

Did you jack up your truck or try when it was on the ground?

 

Jacked up and even tried the Jack handle as a breaker bar and still nothing. At that point we knew no way should we keep going.

 

Don't know why you had so much trouble, I was able to loosen up the locking adjuster, crank mine up several times until I got a full 3" lift out of it. Then we just tightened up the locking adjuster. All by hand with the FOX spanner wrench. By the way, that is a really nice bumper. Did you ever try using a spring compressor and then adjusting them? Had to do that on my Jeep to install the ACOS.

 

Isn't there a way to tie up the spring on the truck, while under load, without removing the entire assembly, then jack it up to full droop so the coil comes away from the adjustment collar? Then you could just loosen the collar, set it where you want, gently lower the truck and have it seat without ever having to remove the shock. Thought I read about this somewhere, but it's something that's really hard to search for.
