I also don't have the JBL, and I think mine sounds fine. Have you set your radio to tune in the HD versions of radio stations? That makes a huge difference.

XM and MP3s off of USB stick sound great (to me).

Add a 4 channel amp to power some aftermarket front component speakers and add a sub. Will sound much better!

I've noticed that about mine too. I had a great system in my Tundra and that just made the stock taco that much more disappointing.

It sounds alright after adjusting the eq a bit, but I'm going all in with the OEM Audio Plus system. I've heard it sounds great if it's in your budget range. I'll be sure to post a small review whenever mine gets here and I get it installed.

That's why. Too much loss over any wireless connection like that. Connect via a short cable or on a USB stick and there's a big difference.

I have a classical and jazz library I keep on a 16 GB thumb drive, and it sounds insane. Yes, I can agree that the JBL sounds better, but Miles Davis' Sketches of Spain in USB-connected 256K MP3 sounds pretty damn good on a non-JBL too.

I just finished installing over the weekend a 10" Pioneer sub and a 1100 watt amp going to a LOC to the stock non JBL headunit. It sounds amazing for all that it is thus far. I cant wait to get the speakers in the doors and dashboard. So far ive only spent around $250 for everthing. So IMO this is the way to go with it and keep it all factory looking and stuff. But what do I know. I just looked at the OEM stuff and ********* and the prices were unreal, sure are the specifically tuned and stuff for our trucks im sure do they sound amazing im sure they do but damn that price point is rough. I guess it all comes down to how specific you really need the system to sound. But like I said I listen to primarily metal with a ton of double bass and 808's in it and I needed that bottom end to be strong and kicky and this did the trick hands down.

Just finished updating my audio system, replaced all the speakers with Hybrid Audio speakers and added an ARC Audio amp. Also sound deadened the doors and back wall. Sounds fantastic, huge improvement over the stock sound. Once you yank the old speakers and have a look at them you'll see how cheap they are compared to quality speakers.

I have an OR AC. Not a lot of room for a sub.
I spread my listening between, Hip Hop, Jazz and Talk Radio/News.

I added a JL Component set to the front powered by an Alpine Power Pack and it improved things significantly.
The bass is plenty for me but we figured a Kicker underseat powered sub should fit if needed.

I don't claim to be an audiophile, but I do like a good sounding system. I just have the SR5 with the Entune Plus connected Nav (through the phone). My radio sounds really pretty good listening to Rock, Metal, Country, Jazz and Blues. This is through Bluetooth, Satellite, Radio, CD.... It's not super loud, but plenty loud to rock out.

I see Doggman browsing this thread..... Now I need to go try King's X out on the radio.

I wonder if it's something with your radio/setup.

I'm at a loss. Maybe have the techs look at it? I figured that with tech package it should sound decent.
