I am not getting anywhere near the 20 MPG combined average that my 2016 Tacoma TRD 4X4 off road V6 3.5 is slated to get according to the EPA ratings on the sticker. It says that i should get 18 CITY and 23 HWY for a combined AVG of 20. I am barely averaging 18 and my commute is 38 miles each way on the interstate. I commute off hours so the is no traffic. My avg speed on the interstate is 70-75 and i have done it using cruise control and without cruise control. I seem to actually get higher mileage on back roads.....

Wondering what others with this engine/drive-train combo are getting?

Averaging 19 - mostly rural roads on my 20 mile commute.

I got 22 mpg driving 200 miles on the interstate highway. Mine is a limited double cab 4X4.

The problem is driving 70 to 75...mpgs drop off exponentially after 65ish.

Yup. You could try adding an air dam from another 2016 Tacoma. Those are designed for people that have long freeway commutes.

Neat..... The speed limit in GA is 70 and if you travel any slower, the lunatics will run right over you!

    Thanks for your advice though!

Like all of the other fuel economy threads, it might be worth while to buy a scan guage or ultra guage, (unless the 16s have real a time fuel economy display?)

I noticed I could save 1 to 2 by watching my driving habits with my scan gauge.

Yeah, those EPA highway numbers are done at 55mph, every mph over 55 will see a decrease from that. It's a real shame the EPA hasn't updated their test to reflect realistic highway/interstate speeds.

It has a real time gauge and also shows the tank average which i verify at each fill up. It is within .5 mpg.

    Thanks!

It is definitely comparing apples to oranges, but I noticed a 1-2 mpg increase around the 6000k mark in my '15. Efficiency may improve as the engine/transmission/bearings wear in a bit.

My wife has an Audi that is rated about 28+ and ai have often got more than 34 mpg at 70mph. I was shocked to see my 2016 v6 OffRoad getting under 20 at freeway speeds (65-70 mpg). Is that all I can expect?

    Real world numbers don't lie.

Some get better and some get worse, but the average is what I'd hope for.
