Forgive the length of this post...

Bought my 2012 MGM TRD OR DCSB brand spankin new and recently reached the point of needing new tires. Found TacomaWorld and excuse the pun "the rest is history". Tires led to wheels, which led to a lift, which led to sliders which led to wife thinking I was having an affair in the garage with all the time I was spending there. My stock Tacoma was no more.

After much time and research, installed 5100's all around with OME 884's for the front, Wheelers progressive AAL in the rear with overload left in place. Install went great, no issues. Thought I could get away with keeping stock UCA's as my research suggested.

Went for alignment #1, decided to go to one of the local big name joints, probably not one of my better ideas. Asked for 2.5ish caster, 0 camber, 0 toe. One seized camber bolt and a new LCA later (another story don't want to discuss), finally had truck aligned and I was ready to roll. All in all alignment wasn't bad, truck tracked well, caster #'s were ok, but had a little too much positive camber, the visible kind. Drove it for about 6 weeks, my OCD couldn't take it anymore and ordered some LR UCA's. I know, I know, should have done that from the start.

Installed the UCA's last Thursday, little more than I bargained for but I got them installed nonetheless. Made the appointment for alignment #2 for the following day, tried someplace different this time. Should have walked out the door when the tech was less than receptive on how I wanted the truck aligned and didn't pay much attention as I was explaining the LR UCA's, but I am a glutton for punishment. Worked with the tech and after an hour finally got to the point where I felt it wasn't going to get any better so asked him to button it up. Numbers looked decent but I knew they could be better and I was done and so was he. As luck would have it the printer for the alignment machine didn't work, didn't find that out until the truck was down off the rack. :annoyed:Should have attempted to get a deal but I let it go.

Off I went, truck felt decent, didn't notice as much improvement as I thought I would have however. I knew the local dealer gives free alignment checks so I made an appointment for today to have it checked, get the printout so I have a warm fuzzy and put this to rest.

Pulled into the parking lot at work this morning and heard a definitive clunk from from the front of the truck, stomach immediately hits the floor. I drove it around a bit and sure enough heard it again. After a barrage of expletives I crawled underneath and looked around and there she is, the nut on one of the cam bolts was not tightened, I could literally see thread in between. Why did I not doublecheck that! Whatever alignment I did have I was fairly certain was now hosed.

Called the dealer, explained the situation and let them know I would now need alignment #3 (not taking it back to the previous place). Asked several questions about the techs and abilities as I was not going through this again. Their best alignment guy owns a lifted FJ and does some wheeling so I was encouraged to say the least. I went back with my truck and stayed the entire time. After about 30 seconds of speaking to the tech and my initial explanation of the UCA's I knew he got it and this was the guy. He was maticulous and did exactly what I asked for. In less than 30 minutes he had her dialed in with ease. RIP positive camber...nice knowing you...

As a final thought, I did ask him for a printout prior to making any adjustments. I'll be paying a visit tomorrow to alignment shop #2 and hopefully will be recouping my funds. Attached are the before and after from today...ouch
