I emailed toyota because I cant believe they wont sell a DC in sport or OR with a 6 speed and the upgraded stereo. Looks like that is an option for the TRD Pro but the email I received says its a no go.

It may not sound like a huge deal but my 2013 Sport doesnt have Nav so I bought a aftermarket system Pioneer and it was supposed to everything better but it doesnt, its a bag of crap. This time around I want a system that I dont have to mess with and it sounds good.

It looks as though the stereo systems in the manual transmission trucks dont have Nav, and so far using my phone hasnt worked out that great, mainly because I like to know the speed limits in areas I dont know.

    Oh, here is the email.

    Dear Mr. 6172,

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.

We appreciate your interest in the 2016 Toyota Tacoma

We apologize; JBL Audio is part of the Premium & Technology Package, which is currently only available in the Double Cab TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, and Limited automatic transmission models.

If you would still consider a 6 speed manual transmission Tacoma, we would be more than happy to contact a Toyota dealer to assist in locating the vehicle of your choice. Once contacted, the Toyota dealer would then follow-up within one business day. If you would like us to initiate this action on your behalf, please provide us with the following information, by replying to this email.

    Your telephone number:

Model: 2016 Toyota Tacoma, 6 speed manual transmission, TRD Sport or TRD Off-Road

    Color: White, or Silver

    Accessories:

Toyota dealer you wish to work with:

Thank you for considering Toyota for your driving needs. Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters under file #. If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us.

TRD Pro 17"x7" rims / Terra Grappler G2 tires (265/70/17), 35% tint. Part # on the rims is PTR20-35110-BK. Bought them at Olathe Toyota (Kansas). The website is: http://parts.olathetoyota.com/oe-toyota/ptr2035110bk
I had the same issue when I was looking. I ended up getting an automatic tranny to get the JBL Audio and wished I would have gave up the JBL Audio and got the manual shift. The auto tranny in my opinion just isn't the same. I prefer to have total control over my transmission. The JBL Audio is nice and all, but not worth it if you have to go to an auto transmission to get it. I have a three year lease, and after two years, I'm gonna opt out of the lease and get a manual tranny and never look back.

The lack of options with the manual transmission is very frustrating. A DCLB OR manual would be awesome, but I would settle for a AC OR manual or even an SR or SR5 manual. I just don't understand the configurations.

The base TRD trucks and P&T trucks have the same navi Entune headunit and both configurations are available with a manual (although maybe not in the cab/bed combo you want), it's referred to by Toyota as "Premium Audio". The P&T package w/ JBL is (as you already know) can only be had with the auto. Headunit is essentially the same, but the speakers are better plus there is a sub. If quality sound beyond the system that comes standard with TRDs is really that important to you, you can do far better taking the $700 savings by not going JBL (or something like $2500 if you also add in the savings from not being stuck suffering a slushbox) and spending it in the aftermarket. Seriously, it's a win/win.

Ok, I didn't know you could get Nav and not JBL. I don't feel so irritated now:poking:

I think I will look at a standard tranny DCSB TRD OR in white or silver if it can be had.

Non-JBL gets you the same head unit and apps/features. It just doesn't have the amp and sub. The entune nav is mediocre at best though.

Hmmm, my 2013 non-jbl does not have a nav option. I dont see anything in your master list saying the etune has navigation.

Yep. Couldn't understand why. It would seem like dealer could change out speakers and add the sub and amp. My dealer says no. But aftermarket is probably better anyway. I love my new 6 sp MT Taco DCSB OR! You can make changes to the sound system but not the tranny, so go for the MT and modify the sound system

if you have a TRD Sport (based on your profile, guessing you have short bed) and don't have option code FP, then you have option code HH which should include (direct from Toyota website):

I have the SPORT TRD, DCAB, 6SPD, Premium Audio w/ NAV.... it's works OK.... not the best with Samsung S5 phone. I can only connect the phone through Bluetooth. USB does not connect the phone to the system without Bluetooth activated in the phone. if Bluetooth is not activated there is no connection at all, the phone is not recognized by the system. I'm not sure if there is an issue with the phone or the HU, however in my wife's subaru with the same phone I can do mirror link, thru USB with no issues & the Blue tooth works great as well..... anyone experience this?

I have an upcoming service on this issue w/ Toyota they said it should work thru USB lets see what happens.

Toyota flops again..... they can not understand why the USB does not recognize the Samsung S5 phone. The Head unit is made by Panasonic but there is no software upgrade at this time. So they are blaming the phone or cable (never the vehicle). They did say there is a history of issues associated with Samsung products and their vehicles but there is nothing they can do at this time to correct the situation.

are you connecting the cellphone as a media device? you have to drag down the notifications, hit the usb notification and change it to media device. otherwise the phone connects as a charging device as default.

that is not a fault of the Toyota head unit.

Thanks DAK sorry about dub postings wasn't sure if they were connected. This forum works different that the Mercedes one which is what I'm use to. New to this forum. Yeah, I tried that on the phone setting didn't work. It just does not come up on the toy screen at all. The USB connect just blanks out. In fact sometimes the USB port will not even charge the phone TOY service said that they have seen that before. TOY service people said this is the first time they seen anything like this. They really tried to get it to work, there was just was a no connect thru USB. The service guy connected his Iphone no problem thru USB. He thought it was a bad cable then after that check out OK he said it was the phone. When I got home I reconnected my phone to my wife's Subaru no problems everything works. USB, Mirror Link, Blue Tooth ect. It is just does recognized thur the TOY USB port on the Tacoma. I just pisses me off when you spend over 32K on a vehicle that they say it is definitely going to work when you buy it and then it does not and they blame you for not having the right equipment to connect to their vehicle. Without the phone being recomgized by the USB really limits what you can do with the unit.

that is odd. but then again we haven't used the usb port on the 2016 since we have the qi pad and stream thru the entune app on the phone to the headunit. on the 2012, the usb port was used w/o any incidents in the 4 yrs we had it.

I find it really odd that its just your phone. have you tried another phone?

I have the Entune Plus.... 6" screen with connected navigation (through the phone navigation). I like the fact it has knobs instead of buttons.... Not sure if I'd rather have the 7" screen or not.

Anyways, the sound on the system is really pretty good. With road noise and what not, I'm not sure the JBL system would be all that much of an upgrade.

Welcome to the party OP. Check out this alternative that was brought to light in another audio complaint thread.

    http://oemaudioplus.com/toyota/tcd1600/

This is twice the cost of upgrading to the JBL but that shouldn't be surprising. I can't say for sure but I think the O+ system is quite a bit nicer than the JBL system even despite being down a few watts. The DSP and carbon fiber cones are nice.
