    What's going on guys?

I got my Tacoma last summer (steal) and I have been very happy with it. I got a lot of good information from the forums so I decided to make an account. Not going to go all out with this truck it with it being a Prerunner, but I promised to build myself one of the coolest trucks for under 5k.

I bought a 2001 DC Prerunner that had been sitting since 2004 for $3k. Needless to say, the truck is minty and has a few things waiting to get put on in the garage. Will post up pictures later today in the first gen forum!

    I believe I got it with 34,xxx?

As much as I wanted to resell it.. something inside told me to keep it because it would more than likely outlive me lol. (I'm a motorcycle/sportscar guy before anything, first truck I've owned)

    Welcome.

Since it's been parked so long, I'd refresh the fluids and drive it as is for a while, just to shake it down.

There's no law that says you have to mod, particularly if it meets your needs as it sits.

    Nice find!

I had a friend back in the day that used to read the obituaries. When the address of the deceased was part of the write up.

In a good neighborhood, if the deceased was a male over 55 and under 70, with a surviving wife, he'd cruise looking for a special car in the drive/garage/carport. :fingerscrossed:

Research is a little tougher now. But most property appraisers have online searches by name now. You could get lucky and find a location that way.

Just be careful in your approach. Don't wig out the family by doing something weird.

To top it off.. it had the matching Lunar Mist Snugtop with both keys.. All original keys and floor mats.. all service manuals.. and a little folder with all the maintenance receipts from Toyota!

Done, the only thing I had to really replace was the gas tank!

Close to what happened here.. it was my best friends neighhbor. His daughters were selling off his estate.. were selling it for $1k. I told them I absolutely could not do that, that I would be stealing it from them.. they told me that they did not care.. they didn't want to deal with taking it to another state.. so they accepted my offer for 3k and we both walked away aware and happy :)

You actually gave them 2k more than what they asked? Man you have good karma coming your way.

Update with the picture for those who wanted to see the truck!

I bought 5100's all around and the 2016 TRD Off Road wheels that will be going on here in a couple of weeks once I get a little more free time. I shall update again then!
