My Taco only travels 2000 miles or so a year and i have always run full synthetic in it. Would you say that a 2 year-ish (5k per manual) change interval is okay? Oil looks fine and truck runs well, and i'd like to not use oil/spend cash unnecessarily. Any input appreciated. Thanks!

My guess is yes. But I'd like to see what the experts here say too.

Touchy question, I'll be crucified but yep every 2 years on 2000 miles will probably do just fine.

I change the oil on my Challenger at that interval with no harm.

If you are putting on 2000 miles a year at 2 miles a trip, then no, change it every year.

The general wisdom with synthetic seems to be 1 year time wise. I would also guess that it will pass if you send it to Blackstone after 2. I would personally change it every year though just to be safe.

If, when you drive, you drive long enough to burn off any condensation inside the block, you can extend the oil change interval. The problem is that oil, once used, starts to become mildly corrosive and moisture accelerates this process.

If you do lots of short trips, change it at least once a year.

Your owners manual says every 6 months or 8000 km - whichever comes first ...
I do full synthetic oil and filter changes every 6 months and I don't get anywhere near 8000.
You all do what works for you but since I intend to keep my taco for the rest of my driving lifetime I will continue.

Easy answer have it tested at Blackstone Labs and you will have a better understanding. Regardless of what everyone here says.

You should change the oil at least once per year, right after it warms up in spring. Oil can change viscosity after a winter.
I would run synthetic and then just change once a year.

Actually I'd probably sell the vehicle lol 2000 miles a year? What do you go get the mail at the end of the driveway with it? haha

Haha yeah, unless i need to use the truck for hauling or bad weather I'm on my Harley, here in San Diego thats just about every day.

Appreciate everyone's input i'll probably just do year intervals for shits and giggles.

Without sending your oil in for testing, I would just change it once a year to be safe.

My wife put 2k/year on her Tacoma as well. I gave up 5-6 years ago trying to keep track. My calander is set up to remind me to change it every 2 years. That's been fine for us.
