Hey guys, just thought I'd fill you in on what's happening with my Taco...

I live in Ontario Canada, and had my frame inspected about 1.5 yrs ago. It all checked out and had it sprayed. Had some fan noises last week hitting the plastic housing, put it on a hoist and turns out my left front engine mount has fallen through my extremely corroded frame!!
I'm sure there has been many posts on here already but just sharing my story. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND everyone that has had an inspection and "passed" to have another and check the entire frame. Spoke with a service manager and he basically said Toyota knows that every frame needs to be replaced but they're buying time by spraying them hoping the trucks will be off the road before anyone notices.

A fail is considered any hole bigger than 10mm. If you find anything like that take it in and have it checked. I'm now waiting months for my new frame... I know it's good in the end but shitty now because I just bought a 30k$ Bass boat I probably won't be able to use this summer for an issue that I guarantee was noticeable a yr ago had the techs inspected it thoroughly.

    Check your frames often guys!

Wow that is rusty. How does the rest of the frame look like ?

When you did the inspection, was it covered/coated with something ?

The rest had surface rust from what I could see but no obvious perforations. This location was right under the engine mounts. They coated it after the first inspection 1.5 yrs ago. Theres no way they would have missed the corrosion in this location had they done the inspection as they should have.

Glad it was caught in time!
    Congrats on the frame.
Seems Toyota was putting off doing another frame.
Maybe hoping it would be off the road before anyone noticed.
The frame thing is killing Toyota it has to be. It's not just us Tacoma guys with frame issues, seems if it has a full frame and its Toyota it is rusting.

Consider yourself lucky. If you lived in the US, you would be SOL. Toyota's US policy has been to apply the CRC as the final step. For whatever reason Toyota is offering extended warranties on the CRC'd frames in Canada, but not the US.

The motor mounts have been a known issue as a weak point on the '05 frames for years.

And yeah, that frame looks nasty.

The frame on my 2010 looks pretty good. There is a little bit of rust around fasteners and joints, and more on the cross members, but I think it looks pretty good. Mine doesn't have any supplemental rust coating but I do wash it frequently during the winter so the road salt doesn't eat it.
