Was the picture you posted on your facebook page, a picture of your sons frame corrosion, that will not pass inspection? If is was, I have the same year Tacoma, that was coated with CRC earlier than your sons and the CRC is still there. Maybe I'm not seeing the whole frame, but it looks like that frame was never sprayed with CRC. I would go on Toyotaowners.com and enter the vin to see if your sons Tacoma ever had the LSC done.

You've been fed incorrect information. The 2005-2008 Tacomas also get the 15-year / unlimited milage warranty extension, effective if you get the spray done before end of this month. See attached dealer notification.

Timing of your stated events is wrong. Settlement with Dana happened in 2011. The buybacks / frame replacements of 1996-2004 Tacomas happened years before that. Effectively Toyota was recovering from Dana a portion of its costs incurred with the buybacks and frame replacements, two years after Dana had already sold its frame mfg business to Metalsa.

This contradicts Toyota's documentation provided to dealers, attached. I grabbed the file from this thread, which you had linked in your Facebook page. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...aign-for-corrosive-resistant-compound.329708/

This is why the class-action lawsuit lawyers are scum: the lawyers profit millions from the settlement, while the actual truck owners still get what Toyota had already committed to offer if the lawsuit didn't exist.

Yes, I have seen that document you uploaded. If you look to the bottom of the page, at the statement at point# 2, it says: "AFFECTED VEHICLES" -- "There are 32,059 vehicles affected in Canada", which is what I have heard from others here from Canada, so that document only applies to the 32,059 Canadian vehicles.

After I had the CRC applied, I asked the dealership service manager if they would extend the warranty and he said, "no they will not, but you can come back if you have a problem and we will see what we can do". See, this is a voluntary campaign and warranty wise Toyota doesn't have to do anything, but having trucks not driveable 7 years after buying them, is unacceptable, especially after they know they made a defective product and should stand by them, even if they are out of warranty.

I agree that a class-action lawsuit will only benefit the lawyers and not change the fact that they won't extend the warranty on the 2nd generation Tacoma's and fix her sons truck. Kind of makes me wonder, when someone brings class-action lawsuits up, if they are doing it on part of the lawyer involved, but I try to give people the benefit of the doubt before making accusations.

But Toyota will only spray frames in certain areas. I'm dealing with it right now. I had mine inspected last year and was told there were areas of concern and to have it reinspected before the end of this month. Called them a couple weeks ago and they said too bad, it's already been inspected, we won't inspect it again. My truck was never sprayed. When I talked to the dealership and asked them why it wasn't sprayed, they said they don't spray them in this area and once it was inspected that was the end of it. I got another dealership to inspect it and they think it should be failed and are talking to Toyota about getting it fixed.

That was a smart move to go to another dealership and before March 31, 2016. A person here was in the same situation, you were in and did exactly the same thing too and in the end he posted that Toyota replaced his frame, so don't give up.

You are right. Looks like it's one of a few times the US service campaign differed from the Canadian one. Further digging found this notification letter Toyota filed with the NHTSA: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/UCM470409/CSC-10056580-3971.pdf

And this right here is the reason why shit bird lawyers make all the money from class actions. Every dealership should be held responsible for their action to this stuff. Then maybe shit would get done without passing the buck..... Or taking time from the shop for owner paid repairs, which is less than warrenty pay out. Toyota fucked up and for the most part admitted it, problem lies with the dealerships not following through with the scope of repairs needed. Just my .02

All I can say it I was happy I got 14 years out of my frame !!

I refused the offer to have them buy it back and drove home.

Mom wanted me to be a lawyer I just could not be a good liar .

You have to love Class action suits Lawyers make the big $$$$ after it is all settled 10 or 15 years down the road you will get your check for $0.42 spending another $2.00 going to the bank to cash the check.

That has been my experience and understanding of how class-action lawsuits work. I would only agree that a class-action lawsuit was good, if they could get Toyota to extend the warranty to the 2005-2008 Tacoma's, like they did for the 2001-2004 Tacoma's, instead of giving pennies to the owners as payouts.

Who cares if that class action will make money for lawyers, as long as owners get frame replaced on Toyota dime, all it matters. Thats the problem here. Nobody is buying truck to make money on it, but people would like to drive it uninterrupted for atlas 10 years. Otherwise whats the point of spending money on Toyota if quality is not there.
2gen atlas had engine and transmission build well, the new 2016 is complete failure, thats why I kept my 2gen and got Subaru as commuter.
F ... stupid Toyota and their scamming ways. Go get em @ryanfamily3 . Sue the bastards until they run out of the money.

If the class-action lawsuit will have the frames replaced and extend the warranty to 15 years like the previous Tacoma's, then I'm all for it.

I just heard back from the dealership, they said they took it as high as they could with Toyota, but Toyota told them that since it passed when it was inspected last year that that was all they were required to do and they refused to fix it. I'm not sure why Toyota is refusing any frames, it is being paid for by the frame manufacturer, sounds be me it is free customer relations, you've got some rust, replace it who cares, we aren't paying for it. Sounds like Toyota got a big check they were supposed to use to replace these frames and they are trying to keep as much of that check as they can and only replacing what they absolutely have to.
