Installed Black Horse Bull Bar to protect fragile front bumper however bull bar sits too low hurting approach angle. It seems attachment brackets are to short to allow bull bar to ride higher to clear bumper. When I ordered it said perfect fit for truck. Want to replace bumper but can't afford it right now.2016-03-31_161718469_349A6_iOS.jpg 2016-03-31_161731226_89E42_iOS.jpg

Bummer. It does look awkward; even more awkward than a bull bar usually does.

Incentive to save for a bumper?

    Avid FTW!

Apparently, Bull Bars cause more damage when struck hard than the supposed protection that they offer.

Looks like it wasn't even designed for the 2016.

Can you return it? Way too low and looks terrible IMO.

Yup, can contest. Had one on a truck I had in the past, pretty sure the truck would have been much better off without it.

I have never seen anybody on TW say they bought a bull bar for protection, but every thread says they suck for protection and they increase damage in collisions.

Number one - no shit, it's a hollow, thin wall metal tube.

Number two - adding metal bolt ons to an area made to crumple is going to increase damage. The truck, like the bull bar, isn't designed to be impervious to impact. Secondarily, who cares? If you're in a front end collision, you're going to be spending time in a body shop or on a sales floor and 99% of the time insurance will be paying for either one, what does it matter if the bull bar increased damage? It gets fixed or replaced, regardless.

Certainly isn't going to make a front end accident go from "not a scratch" to "destroyed."

    Drives me nuts.

Minor correction in that the OP is now the first person to say they bought it for protection.

    So.. yay for firsts.

    Now back to the disappointment.

you do realize that even a 1-2 mph hit on that bull bar will ruin your front proboscis sticking out :)

Is it not returnable now that it's mounted?

I'm hoping you got it on Amazon and can just send it back without hassle.

I believe that is a prototype, as the product is not up yet on the Avid Off-Road site.

You may have to contact Brandon directly.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I've bought shite for my truck that was a mistake, I never used, and eventually flipped.

    Good luck in your search!

Yes, I did say "protection" however I should have specified protection from brush and such while driving rough roads......

    Valid.

I think of bull bars solely as an aesthetic add on, a place to mount lights, or something to keep tumble weeds off your painted bumper plastic.

That may give some protection from small rodents i.e. possum, ground hogs, etc.

Bull Bar worked great for me when I hit that deer going 70mph. No damage at all. o_O

OP if you're trying to protect your license plate, I think that will work fine. Never mind that it's quite possibly the ugliest bull bar setup I've ever seen. All in fun man.
