I put on my BedStep from AMP Research today. It sure helps climbing in the back of this thing with my 51 year old legs, lol. I had been looking at one for about 6 months now. Found one on EBay for $206 and EBay gave me a $20 coupon for my birthday so it was just $186. Not too bad. Anyone else have one and like it?image.jpg

It tucks up under. You can kick it up or down with your foot.

They are pretty handy. I wish they were adjustable though.

No idea. It's been a while since I installed it but if I recall it uses some existing bolt holes along the frame. Maybe the OP can comment since he just recently installed

I looked on eBay and it says this one works on the '16 model too. I went to www.amp-research.com to see for sure though and it says 05-15. I'd call them to see if they work on the new '16. Toyota has this as a dealer option but I don't know if it is one of these or one they make. I do know Toyota only warranties theirs for one year and AMP research warranties theirs for 3 years. Both say a 300 pound limit. That's all I know.
Sorry my photo was dim, the flash didn't come on. But they do fold up. Just put your foot under it and lift up and it is spring loaded and will pop back up. To install it, there are just two bolts you take off of the frame where the tow hitch bolts up and you use the same two bolts to put it on. There are some videos on YouTube that show it all perfectly. Takes about 20 minutes to put it together and bolt it on. Kind of a pain to get the bolts on the frame due to the angle, but use an extension to get them started.

    Hope this helps.

I also went to the Tacoma site and their step, which looks identical, is a $300 MSRP item if you build a truck on their website. The disclaimer states that if it is a dealer option, the price may vary. I was told by my dealer that it was a $300 option that I could have put on the day I bought my truck. I didn't get it from them as I had seen them on eBay for way less. Average price is $206 to $224 on eBay. That's the cheapest I've found them. I did look on Amazon way back but cannot remember the price there. But I will say this thing is worth it for normal use. Off roading you might want to take it off as it very well may catch a rock. It tucks up nice but I've dug some serious mud under my bumper from time to time and this step will catch that too. Just a thought.

Coming from a 24 year old, I honestly find the steps harder to use than just climbing onto the tailgate lol.
The large step requires more flexibility and makes it more likely to slip and fall.

I hear ya. I used to be able to do that with ease. Not so much anymore. I still work out some but I have a bad knee and it's all I can do to get in the back of any truck now days. This thing was awesome for me. Protect your knees while you can! Climbing into the back of any truck can turn ugly quick no matter how young or old you are. Just be careful however you do it.

I have one, it was one of the first mods I did. I like it a lot, have one on my F150 as well. Use it all the time.
