I found a guy close buy selling a used 4" lift kit off his 2nd Gen.

I want to know if it would be a waste of money to buy it. I dont have a lot of information on it just the picture.

    I wouldn't.

And if I did, I'd assume the shocks have 25% life left in them and need replacement sooner than later, the single AALs pictures are cheap when new and really cheap when used, and his coils? How many miles, how were they treated?

If they were on 5k miles and looked like they were on for 2k, sure. But otherwise I'm not interested.

Used lift kits like Pro Comp aren't exactly worth much.

$200 for a used lift kit of that style is about right.

It's not worth the headache brother. Just save up and get something worth while when you have saved.

Agreed. I was in the same boat as you man. Broke but wanted a lift more than anything. I was looking at every cheap and used option on the web and finally decided to just save any extra cash I could. Pull together $733 and purchase a brand new suspension setup and save yourself the headache. In the end you will feel better about your decision and truck will drive much better.

if you're going to do the install and don't mind doing another one down the road, go for it. I'd talk him down to $150. Nothing wrong with used parts. Also note, this isn't the best lift for ride quality, but it gets the job done.

Shocks on a truck that gets wheeled a fair amount can start to wear down in 35,000 or 40,000 miles. Slap worn out by 60,000.....Even a pavement princess will wear out shocks eventually. By their "half life", the ride quality starts to fade....Long story short, ain't worth all the trouble just to save a few bucks...

I'm always interested in why a used lift kit came OFF the truck in the first place. If it was a good kit, it would probably still be on the truck.

A used lift is like used tires. Band aid on a broken leg. Like others said, save up for a new lift and save yourself the hassle.
