This all started yesterday. Driving home I looked at the volt meter on my torque app and it was reading 11.6 volts. My battery light on the dash came on too. The truck was running just fine, no problems starting up. I sat in traffic for over an hour before I got home and never had a problem but the volts never went up. It ranged from 11.4 to 11.8, The battery light on the dash would go on and off too. And by the way that was the volt reading while the truck was running.

I took it to an autoparts store but on my way there the volts shot back up to 13.8. They tested the batter and alternator and said everything passed.

Today while going to get lunch the voltage dropped again. Battery flickered rapidly for a few seconds then stayed on. Again the volts were around 11.6. Once I pulled back in the parking lot at work, backed into my parking spot the volts went back up.

I know there might be a possibility of a loose connection but Ivery only checked the + and - on the battery so far. I'll check the rest when I get home. I just want some more input of what else it could be say the connections are good

    Any ideas????

As you stated - possibly a loose connection. Clean all battery cables and battery posts. Snug it all back up and check battery negative cables body/ground connection. Check alternator electrical connections as well - clean & secure.

It's possible the voltage variations are due to internal alternator/battery failure. Flaky stuff is hard to trouble-shoot.

That is the gods honest truth. Intermittent issues are or can be very hard to isolate.

Most likely, your alternator's voltage regulator is dying. Unless the autoshop you went to removed the alternator and put it on their bench tester, they only tested your battery.
