I think I would rather have the mice out in that gutter area than inside the cabin, pooping into the HVAC system. After seeing this, I think it's worth the trouble. Ya know... If someone was a smart fabricator and has good business sense, that person might be onto something....

It's pretty obvious what the problem is....

You need to move one of the mice, so it's exactly 180 degrees from the other. That should fix the problem with the fan being out of balance.

A constant battle goes on in my neighborhood - with pack rats........... Last time I changed the air filter, there were turds and a pee stain on it (speaking of YUCK). I haven't tried to disassemble the full air tract yet - but a screen may be needed there too. One ATE the red cover off the hot battery lead while it was sitting in the drive for a week in December.

How do you check the filter for this? I'd like to clean mine out anyways...

I think it's less inconvenient to just pop the hood before you use the truck and look. If you don't drive the Tacoma so often you worry about mice, then just put up the mesh and check it before pulling out of the driveway.

This is the solution. Lowe's has aluminium gutter guards that can be cut and formed to fit.
