Hey everyone. I need some advice on what to do with my suspension. So I bought my truck used with a 4 inch suspension lift and 35s. I noticed my UCAs droop down pretty low. It almost has no gap between the coil spring and the UCA on the drivers side and not much better on the passenger side. What should I do? I just got total chaos UCAs but I don't want to put them on yet if it's gonna angle down like this. Thanks in advance

You should have way better angles with the total chaos.

Would they correct the angle? I've seen some with the total chaos that have steep angles too

You will have much better angles with the TC UCA's, but your CV angles also look pretty steep with 4" of lift on there. Might wanna crank those coils overs down a bit. Any idea what brand they are?

too much lift.... drop it to under 3 inches of lift. Preferably ~2.5in You will need UCA's regardless to get alignment numbers right. But much above 2.5in you are limiting your droop which can cause a shitty ride and adverse affects.

Essentially you are running out of the ability for the shock to drop down at 4in of lift. Go over a pothole or a hole in the ground and the suspension cant keep the tire on the road.

Better droop with the uniball, but I think most of your issues are with 4" of lift with stock UCA's.

Darn, okay I guess I gotta go with a smaller tire size too then.

Yeah - previous owner got "lift height fever" and cranked too much lift into those adjustable coilovers.

You've got a light regular cab with no armor so the spring rate on the coilovers already causes a lot of lift.

The UCAs will help your caster, but ironically will actually decrease your tire clearance at the cab mount because the top of the spindle is moved aft. That's how the caster is increased.

Are those extended travel coilovers? You may be able to find a part number on them and determine. If so, then that'll give you a little more droop once you put on TC UCAs. That would make your ride a little more comfortable.

So - simplest solution - ease the height off and keep factory UCAs.

A little more elaborate - still probably ease the height a bit, but also put on TC UCAs and do cab mount chop to increase tire clearance for your 35" tires.

I'll try and find the part number on the coils but I doubt they're extended travel.

I already got a cab mount chop, I know running 35s with a 3 inch I'm gonna have to cut a good 2 inches off the fenders

Where the hubs are mounted on our spindles, the extra caster created by control arms by moving the top of the spindle backwards twoard the rear of the truck doesn't actually move the tire back too far in comparison.

That stated, those spring / shock assemblies look like toytec ultimate lift kit coil overs... AKA bilstien 5100's with an adjustable collar.

They offer extra droop over stock and right about the same amount of suspension travel compared to an "extended travel" true coilover from KING / FOX / ICON.

That stated, at full droop with stock UCA's you are likely to hit the coil itself (you can see you are already close).

OP get some SPC lightracing UCA's and drop your lift in the front by about 1inch, this will make everything MUCH better as far as angles.

Thanks for all the good info. I already got total chaos UCAs, they've been sitting in the box for a month now because this whole issue. I guess I know the answer to my problem and that's to lower the front down, my only issue now is if I should go down a tire size or cut the fenders to accommodate the 35s

Im surprised you havnt had issues with the 35's already rubbing like a mofo on the fenders if you actually flex the truck.

I went from 265's to 285's and love the look and ride. I do really like the look of the 35's on our trucks tho. But moving down a tire size would probably be best.

I've flexed it in the rear and they rub a little if I keep the black plastic fenders flares on. Other than that the front rubs on the uca and that's about it. But I'm gonna get a spacer for that anyways

I payed $1080 for my Cooper AT3's at Commercial tire in Barrigada, but if you call around during a holiday sale or if you know anyone that works at a tire shop, that's always a big help. I'm pretty sure you could get a big chunk of that if you sell your current ones. But def calling around to compare prices would be best...and you can always hustle them down.

In comparison to what? The total distance changed at the top? No, of course not. But when you're trying to clear 35s, every little bit counts.

oh of course ever lil bit counts.

Just saying that moving the top of the spindle back has much less of an effect on wheel placement as LCA moving forward n back.

what ended up happening here (5 years later)? I have a similar issue. Running 285/70 on 3 inch bilstein 6112 lift at top setting and the angles are ridiculous.

thinking about dropping it 1 inch in the front and adding SPC UCAs. Thoughts?
