Hi Folks I’m new here but no stranger to the Tacoma. I owned a low mileage 96 Tacoma for a few years and loved it. Then it was bought back by Toyota because of frame rot. Had it not misspent its youth rusting away in upstate NY I’m sure it would have given me many more good years. Just this week my new one came in from the factory and I’m a bit overwhelmed. It’s a red 2010 5 speed manual, 4 cylinder, 4x4, regular cab. I’ve never owned a new vehicle, but they gave me a really good deal on the buyback. I will post a picture of my old truck with the rack, and the wet behind the ears new one (it’s so naked).

I’m primarily a custom metal fabricator and a jack of too many trades; I have always seen my truck as another tool. I’m good with regular maintenance and hose it off when it’s dirty, but I don’t preen my truck. I’m up to my eyeballs in a 3600sq foot, 3 story building renovation and need a solid rig. I loved being comfortable shoveling brick rubble from a second story directly into the bed of my old Tacoma. And I custom built a 10’ ladder rack for my old truck and used it to haul lots of metal and lumber weekly. Something tells me this new rig is in for a short honeymoon.

Since they won’t let me post questions here, I’ll make another post about my concerns with building a new rack under another category.

I’m in PA by the way.

Hey, Thanks for the greetings. You seem like an enthusiastic bunch. I’ll post more pictures as I build the rack. My truck is pretty bare bones compared to the fancy rigs I’m seeing on here. I thought I was living large when I ordered AC and intermittent wipers.
