Yeah I noticed my ps3 would get super hot as well!! I just got on ebay and bought a fan kit for it. It seems to work pretty good.:)

Yep, I had an issue with my Bluray drive in my original 60GB, almost exactly a year ago as a matter of fact. As Tacoma02TRD said, I bought a bluray drive off ebay for about $110 shipped and installed it myself, it was real easy. But, since you said that your PS3 wont turn on any more leads me to think its something else... maybe a faulty power supply?

Mine still turns on......I just said it's not worth turning on (since I can't play a ps3 game). I've done some experimenting and now I'm pretty sure my problem is the bluray drive. They average between $50-$75 and since I've already taken the thing apart twice, it'll be a cinch to get in there a third time to replace some parts. I feel a little better knowing I can fix it, but still pissed that my $600 machine didn't even last 2 years with light use. I guess it's a Sony, not a Toyota.

I had the Red Ring of Death about a year ago and had to send it in for repair. Microsoft fixed it and sent it back to me in a week free of charge. They also paid all the shipping costs.
