Hey all. Anyone ever had to replace the back up camera? I bought my truck used and I thought the lens was just dirty but when I tried to clean it. It looks like it was rubbed by sandpaper, so my camera does not have the best view.

Should I stay OEM or buy aftermarket?

    Thanks for the input.

OEM is pricey. The aftermarket options offer the same picture quality for a fraction of the price.

The only complaint that I've got with my aftermarket camera is that the upper corners are a bit obscured by the plastic.

Test drive a same color truck and swap tailgates. Just kidding. Perhaps a junkyard might have some tailgates with the cameras intact for sale at a lower price than what the dealer charges.

I'll let you know once it gets here but I bought a backup camera off eBay that shared the same backup 'lines' as OEM on the head unit screen. Ordered it like a week ago so should be here soon. Believe it was coming from China... Bought it because another member bought the same one from same vendor and said he was happy with it.

Mine is getting replaced next week under warranty. Noticed a few weeks ago when I put it into reverse that the lens was filled with water.

Looking at it more, it looks like some kind of overspray from the bed liner. Tried goo gone and it's not coming off.

Took a blade to it. Cleaned up pretty good.

Before all I could see was the hitch.

    After cleaning.

    I guess I don't need to replace.

    Thanks for the replies.
