New 06 Tacoma automatic

I've recently inherited a 2006 automatic Tacoma. I love it! But I'm about modifications when it comes to vehicles. Personalized to our liking making them "one of one" if you may. I'm new to the forum platform all together, definitely a noob when it comes to truck mods. I'm positive I'll get insight from experienced drivers here so that's why I joined.

I'm looking for a decent suspension first and for most. I feel like that is the foundation of my project here,but I may be wrong. I'm looking for something durable,economical and comfortable for when I'm able to take the truck out with friends to the desert(Nevada/California)

I don't just want something that makes the truck "look good" but performs better than it looks.
I have plans for this project and I'd definitely appreciate any insight and pointers.
