Yeah weight doesn't matter.. You mentioned the exact pound dumbbells..on that, somebody shouldn't walk around with "ILS" pushing such weight.. People like that are funny. Weight training isn't a sprint.. Snake oil supplements and working out for a year or two phase out most..

Been couped up in the hospital since Sunday morning, my uncle was admitted Saturday night and had surgery Sunday night, he's still in recovery.
And a close friends mom was admitted Sunday night because of weakness, dehydration and possible mini strokes.
So I've been back and forth between rooms for the last 36 hours, finally got out and ran so I didn't stress myself out to much.

My legs were sorer yesterday than they've been since I started working out in 2009. I seriously was moaning every time I got up or had to walk. I think the dumbbell Romanian deadlifts did it b/c the only other hamstring exercises I did that day were seated and lying leg curls and I do those all the time. I think with dumbbell deadlifts, I'm able to isolate the hamstrings more or something...I dunno, but they still hurt a little today.

I missed the gym yesterday b/c I had to put a basketball goal together for my boss (he says he's a natural supervisor...I say he's mechanically retarded lol). We shot some hoops for about 30 mins yesterday after I got done. I forgot how much fun that was. We're talking about getting up a weekly game going with some friends. Now, I wish our gym had basketball courts :pout:

I tried to add y'all. @Papa Taco created the PM...maybe he can add you. If not, we'll create another one. It's like the X rated Gym/Fitness thread

I know I brought this up before about lifting straps and wrist wraps and I think we all go too focused on straps or I could be missing it. I'm too damn lazy to search for it today. What was the opinion on wrist wraps? Lately when I get done benching my wrist right at the joint has been bothering me would they help with that or again throwing my money away ?

Make sure you don't bend your wrists when you're pressing. You put a lot of strain on your wrist that way. Try to make a straight line from your elbows all the way up to your hands. As far as wrist wraps I bought one from bb.com a while back and I found out it doesn't really help me much, but I don't push a lot of weight so idk.

On bench? I wouldn't know how to use a strap on bench. I only used them for deads and shrugs but it limits grip strength so I don't use them anymore. If I can't hold the weight, it is too much weight...

I think he's talking about wrist wraps for wrist support, not lifting straps.

A classic case of invisible lat syndrome.....with sweaty pits and a mullet

wrist WRAPS are good for folks who've had wrist injuries b/c they offer support. Wearing them if you don't have wrist injuries is kinda pointless though...I figure going strapless strengthens your wrists if you have good form.

wrist STRAPS are great for things like deadlifts and shrugs. Only use them when you absolutely have to. A lot of folks use them for every lift they do and their grip sucks. I only use them with maxing out on deadlifts or shrugging over 400 lbs. I've been trying to get away from them altogether in order to get my grip strength up, but I still have to resort to them every now and then

I have straps that rarely get used. The only wraps in my life are from Harris Teeter on $5 sub Friday :hungry:

Wraps are what I'm talking about. I don't have any issues with grip. It's the wrist pain that I'm trying to eliminate. The fact that I have a desk job and type a shit ton probably doesn't help

Same here, except I my wraps come from Gezzo's Grill, which is a local place...think Chipotle or Moe's but family-run, so it's way better.

We have a few accessory queers in our gym. No matter what they're working out, they've got a belt, straps, wraps, knee wraps, etc. with them. They use straps for latt-pulldowns and everything...it's ridiculous. My straps get used about once a month.

I'd make sure you were using good form and then if the pain doesn't go away, try some wraps. A lot of people's wrist pain comes from the pic @tacopaulo put up...your wrist and the back of your hand should always stay parallel with your forearm for the most part.

I broke my wrist, so I typically wrap up for anything over 225. But, I usually only wrap the wrist that I broke. It helps alleviate some pain for me. That's another reason I use suicide grip for bench. I feel like it keeps the Bar more in line with my wrists. When I wrap my thumbs I feel like I end up bending my wrists back.

As far as straps go, I use them on heavy shrugs, and when I'm
Wanting to go heavy on Lat pull downs or cable rows so I don't worry about my grip failing before my muscles do.

I don't ever pay attention to that so I'll get someone to watch tonight while I hit a few higher weight lifts and see what they see

I use(d) wraps and believe they help for a lot of things. For bench, I mainly used them because they were around and reinforced good form. Key word being reinforced. Putting wraps on do not solve problems with form on bench. They make it so it takes more effort to bend your wrist into improper form, but you can do it and will do it if that's how you bench.

I would suggest them for very limited exercises such as overhead squats, presses, heavy bench, etc. Don't use them as a means of ignoring poor flexibility/form. Instead, work on loosening and improving the joints. Also, you don't need wraps when working up to heavy weights (similar to a belt). Reserve the use for when you need additional support (i.e. 3RM).

What do you brahs use to stay flexible? I need to work on being more limber. I guess just simple stretching would work. I stretch before each workout, but for only like 2 mins.

    spot on
