About a year ago I installed a Pioneer AVH-X5600BHS unit from Crutchfield. I left the stock speakers, at least for now. It has a few quirks but overall I'm pleased with it.

did you do the install yourself? I just know I would make a total mess out of everything if I tried that.

I'm a complete idiot when it comes to car electronics, so I just got a quote last week from an audio place here in San Diego to install my old sub/amp to the factory head unit. Figured I had the stuff sitting in my garage and might as well put it to use. Its older stuff (from my highschool days) but I plan on having a:

    - Pheonix Gold 600.4 amp
    - Image Dynamics IDQ 10" in a bandpass box
    - Bass knob

Yes. Changed F & R speakers (includes tweeter) with Infinity. Kept stock head unit. Did the Rammaudio thing in all doors, back panel and headliner.

Just replaced all the stock speakers in my double cab. 6.5in 3 ways in the rear, 6x9 3 ways in the front, and .75in tweeters in the top doors. Bar none the best upgrade you could do for sound even with the stock headunit. Seriously the stock speakers are so much junk, the driver is literally the size of about 5 quarters stacked.... thats it. Its pointless to do a head unit upgrade and keep the stock speakers. If anything keep the stock headunit and replace the speakers.

Used these parts and my system sounds AMAZING now.

quickly fabbed up my own tweeter adapters.

Also note that tweeter wiring colors are backwards for some reason on the stock tweeters

Yep I did it myself. Took half a day or so, it wasn't that difficult. With the adapter cables provided it was literally plug and play. The only wiring involved was connecting power and ground and the tap into the reverse signal for the backup camera.
