Today when i went to start my truck after work on the first attempt it just kept cranking, turned the key back then tried again and same thing, tried a third time and then it "sputtered" a little bit and started up, once it started it the truck shook for a little bit till the engine warmed up. Drove it home, ran fine, got home, shut it off, it started right back up.

Before this ive never had any problems.

I havent looked at anything yet but just wondering what to look for or if anyone has had any similar problems. i have a scangauge but no CEL.

Possibly the checkvalve at the fuel pump, Next time after it sits for a long time. Put the key in, turn to run, let it prime (8 seconds or so) then try to start.

Agree it sounds like it is starved of fuel. Having no filter, the sock on the fuel pump could be full of crap. try the above and see what happens.

No check engine light?Fuel issue .Low gas in tank? Maybe excessive water in tank.Cold temps?Did you hit gas pedal by accident when cranking?

When you turn the key, pause between the on and start positions. You should hear a relay click behind your glove box, then start your truck. I've been told it's the security keys acting up. My truck has done this several times, but if I follow this procedure, it never happens.:notsure:

No problems today, probably started the truck cold maybe several times. Maybe I accidently hit the gas getting in or out

I didn't know there was no fuel filter. That's good to know.

I added a 16 oz bottle of Lucas oil deep clean fuel system cleaner to a fuel tank and the truck runs so much better now. Engine is a lot quiter and smoother on acceleration. Was skeptical at first but within 10 miles of adding it I noticed a big improvement.
