Because it's a drop bracket lift kit, the coil isn't compressed any more than it would be with a stock setup if I'm not mistaken

Your truck is 4x4? You have 06 Prerunner listed in your profile?

Also @OP trucks built for offroad will not ride like a sports car on road.

Truth. Actually almost no truck will ride like a sports car, unless it's a lowered deal that's been done right. And that's pretty rare.

Too many folks worry about the stance (up or down) as opposed to worrying about the function. Looks good in pictures. Lousy to live with.

And I do understand what you're saying, but this lift kit doesn't seem to do anything beneficial suspension wise other than give my truck an aggresive look. Id rather have a system that benefited the offroad performance of the vehicle and if it did ride alittle rougher with a mid travel kit/ performance coilovers system id be much happier because at least it would perform better offroad

Couldn't have said it better myself with your second point, the guy I bought it from was more concerned with looks rather than function, and I am the opposite

If you don't offroad much and are considering changing your front factory coilovers I recommend just getting the longer bilstein shocks which are normally used on the rcd kit. F4-BE5-E122-T0. unless you want to spend the extra on more expensive coilovers.
Like evenflow stated above the spacer doesn't preload your spring like one used on a 2-3" lift. All the spacer does is makes up the difference since the drop bracket lowers your front crossmembers down to help achieve the lift. By using the longer shock I mentioned above used on the rcd lift kit you won't have to use the spacer because shock is designed to run with the drop bracket kit and is longer than the stock ones. I myself have used the longer bilstein shock on my truck when I had it and had no issues at all.

That does seem like a good idea for a guy who doesn't offroad much, but I'm trying to make this vehicle as offroad friendly as I can. I think it's my best interest to eliminate the db lift all together and start from scratch. Thanks tho!

You have literally described a drop bracket lift. Looks without the performance and, often, with degraded performance for several reasons. I think the above suggestions are at least decent temporary fixes but ultimately the solution (which makes the most sense rather than paying twice) is to rebuild it the way you like it rather than bandaid the drop bracket.

I agree. I think my best bet is to remove the lift, get it back to stock then start from there with maybe some performance extended travel coilovers. Would you agree,?

Sounds like that is probably what you should do. It may be stiff for now but you can fix it soon, you know? I'd begin evaluating exactly what I want my truck to do in terms of function and begin searching for applicable suspension builds to satisfy that need.

@digitaLbraVo yessir couldn't agree more. Can't wait to illuminate that drop bracket crap and have a setup more suitable for overland adventures and general off-roading. Hell I'll probally just go with a performance coilover. I see you're in la habra, I'm in Huntington Beach, not too far. Let's meet up sometime and go wheelin!

Because he has stock shocks and coils still in their 100% stock configuration with zero preload...so if you are comparing stock feeling ride quality to a DB kit that still uses stock CO's the ride is the same. If he had the PC CO's it would be a different story those things use a stupid heavy spring and ride like shit. A DB kit that uses the OE CO's will actually ride more plush than a truck with a 3" lift all preload to hell and back..l because that " giant spacer" is not a coil spacer it is nothing but a new mounting location 6" lower to accommodate the LCA being 6" lower IE: those " spacers " don't do a damn thing to the CO zero preload. The OP began with mentioning a harsh ride quality so knowing that he is still on OE CO's the likely culprit is his load range E tires which we all know ride like a brick shithouse but we all use them anyway because they are far more reliable offroad.

Hahaha "brick shithouse". Well said. I'm going to get some bfg all terrains that will fit with the stock suspension so when you do the work on my truck everything will be ready to drive I pm'd you asking for your number, I still have to track down those stock parts though
