I use the sport dog brand and so far its pretty much perfect. 2 mile range and waterproof. has adjustable sensitivities and the whole 9 yards. the price seems to have gone up lately though. ive been using it for almost a year now and i like it. i used to have a cheapo crap one but im glad i upgraded.

EDIT: http://store.sportdog.com/prohunter-2525 this is the one i use.

I have to keep my collar on the absolute lowest setting possible otherwise she thinks her heads being cut off. (she overreacts) the only one she will respond without freaking out over is the one that I can only sometimes feel on my hand. then she only sometimes feels it, so I turn it up to lvl 2 (out of 27) and she freaks out again. she kills me haha.

I noticed the slow feed bowl. Your puppy is probably a chow hound just like mine. The slow feed bowl helped... a little.

Pup now eats her food in 37 seconds, instead of inhaling it in 22 seconds. LOL

My lab Isabelle (in doggy heaven now) loved to lay in the house and stick her nose out the flap to smell the world. Best option all around - she stayed cool but got to do all her sniffing.

She kept us safe from all those squirrel bastards.

My dog doesnt have a food bowl. Part of his mix is vacuum apparently. His food goes in a kong wobbler now, slows him down a lot plus its kinda like a game to him.

mine used to be a chow hound, but for some reason she slowed down to almost eating one piece at a time haha. its weird. I think after we got a routine set and she knew there was going to be plenty of food at set times and no other dogs were going to eat it, that she became ok with going a little slower.

I have to turn mine up to 10 before my boxer responds. But I've never had to go past that point.
