does anyone in as have kids they take around I there Dbc? I have 1 and one on the way but seems in the summer it takes a drive of 30 miles to get the rear to cool down. Any ideas? Though about remote start but that is it. There is no blowing air on them from the back seats.

I have two kids in my double cab, and the cooling has never been an issue....granted, I don't live in AZ.

If you live somewhere with extreme temps, remote start is a must have.

The back seat sucks for air flow, so you really have to heat/cool the entire cab before the back seat is comfortable.

As someone who lived almost 30 years in Scottsdale, has a double cab, and two kids, feel I should chime in.

Get your windows tinted dark as you can tolerate, run max AC on re-circ, and open your windows for a moment when you start the truck. Thirty miles before the rear cools is a long time. May want to check the AC performance. Park in the shade and wait until November!

MT stuff, RTT stuff, the usual.
    drive my 2 kids daily.

Buy a remote start, you'll never get in a hot truck again. I recently got a Clifford 5706v, couldn't be happier.

I agree a remote start is a good investment. But, check that AC performance too. If it's taking 30 miles to cool the back seat, you're looking at 30 minutes of idling instead. That's going to affect mileage a lot.

Do you have a dark window tint in the back? They make a special film that blocks heat really well, I forget what it's called but any reputable tinting shop should carry it. It can even be clear, doesn't have to be dark.

I just got the comfort series tint by llumar with 5% on the back and 35% on the front. It helps tremendously. If you get the pinnacle series it is a ceramic tint that has awesome heat rejection. I just didn't want to spend close to $400.

There are a few things you can do to keep the temps down in the cab. Insulating the roof was a big one. Tedious to complete, but well worth the effort and the difference was noticeable immediately. I mentioned in my thread that the weakness to insulating is going to be your windows. They will radiate heat into the cab even when tinted. Look into ceramic tinting (ask your local tint shop). I'm not saying to put grandma's China on your windows. Ceramic tint is specially made to reduce heat radiation through the glass. Also get yourself a good window shade for when you park the truck. The wire ones that fold down to the size of a record are cool, but they really don't do much to prevent heat from penetrating your cab. You'll want to get one with the foam sandwiched between shiny foil- those are the best to protect against heat.

That's the stuff I was thinking off, ceramic tint. They had a demo up at the shop I got my windows tinted at a few years ago, they had a heat lamp up against the ceramic tinted window and you couldn't feel the heat coming through it at all, versus the regular tinted ones. Pretty cool.

Run the air vents in the floor and dash setting.
There are vents below the driver and passenger seats that will blow some cold air to the rear passengers direction.
It also reduces the pressure blowing only through the dash vents, so the blower is not forced.

My recommendation would be to get ceramic tinting. It really blocks the UV coming into the windows and cuts down on heat. It also protects against skin cancer, so big plus there.

I have it and although I don't live in a desert climate, it does work very well.

That film won't help anything if the car is already hot. It can help air circulate quite a bit better but his AC working to the best of its ability is key. IMO the ceramic clear films are somewhat a gimmick, ceramic films with a little bit of darkness will perform loads better.

Oh and it's usually really damn expensive lol probably looking at around $300 on the cheap side for a full ceramic job.
