I know people ask this all the time here but i want to make sure my plan is going to work. 2013 tacoma with rough country 3-2 leveling lift. i have seen plenty of pics showing 285/70r/17 fitting with this lift. id like to be a little different and try 33/12.5/ 17 won't this lift still be enough or are there other mods i need to make other than cutting

You'd probably required to do quite a bit of cutting. 285/70r17s are only 32.71" by 11.22". Jumping to 33/12.5/17 is quite a difference, mostly because of the width. You'd probably rub on the cab mount and have to chop that off which isn't an easy thing.

using wheels with -12 offset i understand the concern is in the front. how much more lift would be required? i know i could do AAL in rear and that should do it but what would I need in the front

I honestly couldn't tell you. You could make them fit with 3" lift in the front, but you're gonna be doing a lot of trimming if you plan on doing any sort of off roading at all. If not, you're probably still gonna do some trimming. Plus at that point you may be rubbing your UCA.

No problem. I'm sure there's a reason why they're so common in the Tacoma crowd, so might as well just go with it since it's already tried and true.

I've only had the truck since december. I'm not planning any hard core off roading just as I need to while hunting. Truck is 4cyl automatic so dont want to go too big anyway. Thanks again

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Rule of thumb is 1" up for 1" of tire past stock. Of course that is blurred by width. Prepare to chop and bang things around or risk ripping stuff up with tires. 285/75R16 and 280/70R17 looks great but is a bit of a pain in the ass to get to fit well.

    Lift
    Remove flaps front/rear
    Cab mount chop
    Spacers or aftermarket wheels
    Upper control arms
    Flatten the pinch weld

These are pretty much the steps it takes to get it to fit. Your mileage may vary.

Yeah , chop (cut) cab mount, properly backspaced rims & 33's will clear for the most part, probably still rub a little on inside frame rail but not badly

It'll eat up the inner plastics and fender flares.

    Ask me how I know...

There's no magic formula, mount the tires, cut the fenders, and go wheel. If you can't handle the cutting then stick with the stock size tires.

i could completely cut the housing and fender and have it clear probably with no lift. As a person who does this kind of thing for a living I understand you can't just cut you then have to go back and cap off any exposed internal areas and also insure everything is properly braced or your leaving yourself open to premature rusting or panel warpage. I was simply asking for a little advice as I havent dealt with fitting bigger wheels and tires on a 4wd since I got rid of my jeep 20 years ago and every one here seems to be a wealth of knowledge. I was lead to believe this 3-2 spacer block lift would let me do what I wanted and that it was a good lift.

Nothing requires you to recap anything for simple trimming. A full on tub job is a different story. Just Beat back the pinch weld and remove the inner fender plastic and you'll be golden.
