Oh yeah the pinstripes!:DI use Meguires products!
1.Use a foam or microfiber applicator pad.
2.Meguires "Ultimate Compound" or Meguires "Scratch X".
    3.Meguires "Ultimate Polish".
    4.Meguires "Ultimate Wax".
Using compound may not be necessary!Polish alone may remove the beauty scars!Be sure to follow with wax to protect/coat the finish!

I still need to remove my pinstripes from a handful of recent wheelin trips!:DMy truck is black color as well!
Yes just use the foam or microfiber pad when applying the polish or compound if necessary! My pinstripes are very bad and deep but not completely through the paint!I know i have to use compound because polish alone won't remove/buff them out!
Yes wax after you polish or use compound! It protects/seals the paint finish!

Haha nice most people discriminate against pinstripes:gossip:but theresults always more ....is this is what you do or you've just learned?you give good steps and help!mines the magnetic grey

cool man and just get polish for plastic correct I've seen different types of bottles?does it matter what direction I start off with?

and the wax do it all together after or do you recommend sections after the polish ....do I have to "wax on wax off" in any direction

If you want to put a little money into it can get yourself the Harbor freight random orbital. and some decent buffing pads. Doing by hand will offer little results and wasted energy.
You can usually get the HF unit for about $50 with the 20% off coupons and its a much better then the more then double priced Porter cable You can use Meguiars ultimate compound and ultimate polish. they are decent over the counter products that are easy to find.
quick video I made a while back testing a product but give you an idea how to use a Random orbital machine
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkHoBR7LEVc

I have already polished my entire truck to a perfect swirl free finish.

I've got pinstripes all up and down my MGM. Are there any long-term issues without polishing/waxing soon? Or would polishing/waxing several months down the road provide the same results (especially in the upcoming warmer months)? I like my pinstripes, but don't want them to be permanent. Basically, is time of the essence for erasing pinstripes?

I'm glad the HF unit has been working well for you, but stuff with motors from HF has earned a rep for not being the most reliable ... PC may cost more, but it should last longer too. Then again I guess for the price of the HF unit you can always just buy another one and still cost less than a PC :)

I'm happy with my PC and it's lasted me so far 5 years of heavy use, and I can't even begin to count how many cars I've done paint correction on at this point. I've also used it for wood work, knife work, and few other odd sanding jobs. There's cheaper, but I've just had a lot of bad experiences with cheap tools not lasting.

I do not own the HF unit but it is WELL proven. I wouldnt buy a PC again if you gave it to me for $10 they are so under powered and frustrating. Maybe you should search around alot of pro detailers will tell how good the HF unit is. Maybe you should find out about if it is a good unit before trying to dismiss it cause it comes from HF. Just cause you paid mroe for the PC doesnt make it better in anyway. Its actually Junk compared to the HF unit. I have owned plenty and used almost everything out there
I have owned a PC, Flex 3401, Rupes 15, Used my buddies HF unit I own a 3rd Gen Griots unit now and a 21mm off brand polisher now that is better then my Rupes was for 1/3rd the price So dont speak about things if you have no experience with it.

Thanks, I guess we all know our own pro detailers and they all have their own opinions. I was just giving mine, take it for whatever it's worth. I've had HF motors fail within hours of use, and my PC has lasted several years. That's my experience with it. I'm not trying to sell anything and I don't have any skin in the game, so feel free to ignore me :)

I wish there were some good teardown videos of the HF and PC units, but I wasn't able to find any ... This guy does great teardown vids though, and he measures the motor outputs and analyzes the various machine parts to gage the reliability and performance of the bearings/shafts/etc. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChWv6Pn_zP0rI6lgGt3MyfA Maybe he would take a request. If you like tools and want to see inside of them I'd suggest his channel, it's a fun watch!

It's amazing just how much a good wax job will protect the truck from getting those scratches in the first place.... I's say do it BEFORE you go out to play... Result should be less scratches due to the wax allowing branches, etc to "slide" along the side easier..

An Update on my pinstripes ...I decided to take everyones advise and worked on my pinstripes ...I just had some time today(2.5 hrs) to work on them and was able to work on the left front fender, door and partial passenger door...I went with the Meguires compound followed by the polish. the compound WAS necessary. All done by hand and it was a work out lol but it's looking great !!

*due to my schedule w jobs and school I can only work on parts of my truck, do I have to wax whatever I polish instantly??

Thanks TW fellas :fistbump:at first I was sketchy about doing the work myself but w the help and videos I went for it and it was cheaper :bananadance::burnrubber:1st photo was about 1.5 months ago 2nd photo after the wash and how both side of th truck currently look
3rd photo todays work, I hope you gus can notice the work :D

I would be very, very careful with the wet sanding approach. One can easily remove all of the clear coat and then you are pretty well screwed.
