As many 2nd gen owners know, the lack of an auxiliary input jack is downright infuriating. I have done some research as far as changing out the head unit, but this also requires an adapter so that both your JBL system and the JBL subwoofer will play nicely with the new head unit ($$$).

I have also seen the threads for a cheap and easy DIY aux jack install mod on your stock JBL stereo.

For those that have done it, was the aftermarket radio install worth the money if you are keeping the stock JBL system as well? Or is the JBL system not worth that much hassle and money, and you could use the space behind the rear seats could be used much more effectively for something else?

Just looking for guidance. I do a lot of longer trips on the road, and I can't stand the radio and old CD's anymore...

Just got a single-din Kenwood in the mail. I have the upgraded JBL w/ 6 disc and sub/speakers in the suicide doors. I'll let you know once I get it in and use it. Although I did not know about the need for an adapter to make nice with the sub.
