I was told my timing cover is leaking. Apparently this is a insane amount of labor to do this. They told me 19 hours! The cost was $2600+ for that repair. In addition to this the truck has a laundry list of other stuff they say it needs. The truck is a07 4 cyl with 2.7 and an automatic with ac. The short list of other stuff they say it needs is thevwater pump is leaking and the drive belts need replaced. I would guess with the 19 hours of labor they would have everything torn down to the rear license plate bolts ( just kidding) obviously if I'm going to have them fix the leaking water pump I would have them put a new water pump in since I'm sure it would be basically torn apart from the timing cover repair. They said a water pump would be $195 and the belt 120 I think they are just doing an ala cart pricing when they should just be charging for the cost of the water pump and the drive belt since all that crap will be off already. My question is has anyone had to do the timing cover repair? Also the say the power steering rack boot is torn and that's almost $1600 to repair that as well. So much for Toyotas being low maintenance

Have you personally verified that the cover AND pump are leaking? They could be jerking you around.
    Get another estimate.

You need to make sure it's the cover and not the front crank seal. For my 4.0L the Dealer told me that my cover was leaking as well. After a good cleaning and power wash, I was able to determine mine was the balancer seal and not the cover. Turned put the balancer had a nice groove worn into it from mud in my rigs earlier life. My repair went from over $1500 to less than $200.
