Took my truck in for service yesterday. Before I took it in for service, I noticed that one of the pulleys from the belt was loose(there was a lot of play between the pulley and the bearing). So when I took it in, I let a mechanic know about it.

Got my truck back and they told me that they placed an order on a new pulley and told me to drive it minimally if possible and take it in the next day(waiting for the new pulley, today). We'll see how it goes. Another thing that he told me was that the engine was 1 quart low. I had checked the dipstick before I dropped it off and it read that it was a little low, but didn't think that it was 1 quart low. All of this, under Toyota Care/Warranty.

Other than those two issues, which really haven't made a difference, I'm definitely enjoying every mile of it (Even with a transmission that loves to shift). My MPG has been dead on with EPA estimates with an average of 21 MPG). Just wanted to share my experience with my dealer.

That's very odd. A bad pulley/bearing would most likely make noise, especially in the am when cold. It's also a dead give away for a worn belt. The 1qt low oil, on a new engine with 5k considered normal by most manufactures.

Maybe the trucks are leaving the factory with low oil. I do have the tow package so maybe they are filling all engines a certain amount, with/without tow package. And the trucks with the tow package are "lower" on oil because the oil cooling system takes up that amount of oil.

Different oil. Transmission oil has the cooler. Engine oil does not.

I agree. Not normal, but it's still in range to be measured by the stick. I checked it and it was almost full but I guess I needed one more quart for it to be full.

Either way. I'm fine with it. I don't think it hurt my engine.

I work in R&D for Philips. Im 99% pretty sure they test these engines on almost no oil or the minimum oil marking on the stick.

    None...yet
New engines typically burn some oil early in life. The parts are marrying and the tolerances are evening out, to put it into common terms. 1qt of oil burn on the first oil change isn't anything to be alarmed about.

I have owned many new vehicles in my life & none of them have used a quart of oil.
