So I've got my 2001 3.4L (4wd, trd, 5sp if it makes a difference in any way) and the a/c stopped a few days ago. It went from insant cold to delayed cold to just hot. Full A/c on = hot, full hot = desert hot, full cold without a/c = hot, air off = still hot, full blast or low breeze any sething =hot or i might get a ltitle quick dash of cool air the back to hot. Before it died, I went and got almost stuck in an unexpectadely deep mud puddle and clogged my radiator and condenser fins with mud but have since cleaner them out and did not over heat past 75% on coolant temp tring to get home (kept my disrance from the danjaaa zone). I also managed to rip off the oem skids which I don't know how I managed that but I don't see any damage to the radiator or compressor. Alternator is fine. Now, i dont know if this is related or unrelated my a/c but these were the events leading up. So, my compressor clutch works, condenser fins are not clogged from air passage, according to the a/c pro r134 rig I have low pressure at about 35psi which should mean my high is working, blower in the passenger foot well is vibrating like it's working but I have not pulled it out, high pressure line is hot, low pressure line is cold, and the drier shows freon flowing through. There is no difference if i am driving or sitting still and the radiator fan is functioning as normal. I'm stumped.

Check the valve on the heater hose to see if it's closing or closed. Hot water will over ride AC cooling

Where is this at? Under the dash with the blower or under the hood on the lines where the caps are, down by the compressor or in front with the condensor

My heater valve in on the center of the firewall. Follow your heater hoses

Figured it out! This is probably what you were talking about but I found a broken piece of plastic here, manually pushed the lever and now cold air

Not sure what that valve is but don't think it was what I was talking about. Good find anyway.

That is one of the vacuum or cable controlled flaps (depending on year) in the heater box inside the cab that controls air flow. 1988 is referring to the actually water valve for the heater hose that is controlled by a cable and is inside the engine compartment on the firewall. When you slide the lever to no heat, it should go to close and still be a slight amount of spring left to fully shut off heat. It's set by a clip right next to valve.
