I hear you. I had a impulse buy last April when I bought a 2015 Chevy Colorado. I traded it in 6 months later on my 16 Tacoma. I took a $4,500+ hit but I'm over it now. At least the doors on my Tacoma don't leak and freeze shut. I can honestly say I'll never own another GM truck. Lesson learned!

I love mine. I wish I had the JBL back that I had in my old one, but I can live with that. I believe I'll be needing a little ATF added but that seems to be normal across both 2nd gen and 3rd gen. No regrets honestly. It's a blast to drive, especially when ECT enabled. This is going to be how most trucks drive most likely in the future. No more balls to the wall all the time for all vehicles with all these new standard being made.

2016 is a good truck. I love mine with nearly 2500 miles on it. I only have one minor issue and that's a buzzing sound that pops up every now and again on the front passenger door. I use to think to myself "for $40k, there shouldn't be any buzzing!" but then I'd remind myself that my boss has a fully loaded '15 Ram with multiple instances of a check engine light. The Ram before that was also fully loaded and a '12 that locked him out of his truck and then when he called Ram to have them unlock the truck for him, wouldn't start. Considering he paid at least $10k more for his than I did mine, I really have nothing to complain about. It looks good, drives good, has awesome creature comforts and has no problem taking on a challenging off-road obstacle. Like other's have said, once it hits 100k miles, I'll know for sure. As for now, I have no regrets.

My girlfriend wanted me to buy her a new car (she wanted a Nissan Sentra)....I told her that IF I WAS PAYING for it...she's getting a Toyota Corolla! So I bought 2 vehicles THAT day...paid cash for both! I'm the salesmans new best friend!!! lol She loves her car too!

I'll start by saying i have 5k miles on my truck and am really enjoying it, a lot! With that said I have been experiencing an intermittent 'clunk' that happens when downshifting from 2nd to 1st gear when slowing down. Was doing it somewhat regularly a little while ago, and when I took it in for it's first service it wasn't doing it when the tech came along for a test drive with me, and just yesterday did it again. I asked them to check the trans fluid level and they basically refused, saying it's a sealed unit, doesn't require maintenance, and to actually check the fluid level the truck has to sit and cool down, and the truck would be there all day at the dealership. They said it's documented and if it happens again, get's worse, etc. in the future it's covered. I even mentioned that it seems to be a common issue with the new 3rd Gens and they again, laughed at me and said just because someone is on the internet doesn't mean it's true! I did purchase a 7 year/100k mile warranty which eases my mind a bit, and now I have the perceived issue documented in case it because a big problem later on. What I'm not happy with if the fact atet the dealership just thinks I'm an idiot, but in their defense I get it since the problem could not be replicated when I was there, but so far Toyota customer service at the dealer has been very dismissive, and they come across like they don't care and couldn't really be bothered. That's more annoying than anything. Guess I've ben lucky in the past, but all I have owned are Subarus, and my experience with Subaru as a company has been second to none. So for Toyota is not impressing me in that regard. Truck overall is fun though. Have already towed 3,000lbs from Denver to the Bay Area ('clunky' shifting started a couple months after that trip) and thought the truck performed well.

Last night, traded in my 2012, I4, 2wd, access cab, SR5, Auto, long bed with 89,000+ miles for a 2016, I4, 2wd, access cab, SR5, Auto, long bed.
Same truck but with interior upgrades and sits like a Prerunner.

Drove it to work this morning.
So far, no issues. :fingerscrossed: ... nor do I expect any.
If this is as nice and my 2012, I'll be very happy.

I've driven mine about 4,000 miles now, driving between Dallas and Austin weekly. Absolutely love it and have no issues other than I think it drives how it should with the ECT button on. That thing really gives you the pep in your step you should have to begin with. Would def love a trans software update. Aside from that, I love the truck.

I'm at 4200 miles and I love it... great truck, plenty of power if you know how to use the trucks features. Really love the techno stuff (I got the premtech pkg). Phone integration (Samsung) has been excellent. And it's a Toyota.

I'm at 9000kms now. Did a small suspension lift and have had the old needle bearing vibs/hum from the front diff so that's worth being aware of still being a potential issue, but I'm guessing Toyota will add the 2016's to the TSB from last year. The tranny is slightly annoying with the low end lag and searching for gears. I'm hoping for a reprogramming fix down the road, but overall, I love this truck!

20160401_191349.jpg With each passing day, I appreciate this truck more and more.
I do have the "Uninitiated Trip Meter Reset" issue though, and I do want to get it resolved someday (soon).
    Aside from that, its terrific.

4x4 SR5 DCLB, Barcelona Red. Bought it mainly for towing the sleds back and forth to Canada and it fit my needs perfectly for that. Love the truck, just not the service department.

4*4 DCLB w/tow, 12 pumps from grease gun to each u joint, 3/4 quart to transmission. Like the truck, first Tacoma. Owned a 2003 Camry new, 300,000 traded for 2006 Camry w/ 100,000, 2003 4 runner w/250,000 till totaled by red light runner, 2005 tundra traded for 2016 Tacoma. 2005 bought used, my fault piece of crap.
Would like to see an option for true LSD, now looking at purchasing an Eaton tru trac. Also an option for the 4.7 V8 would be nice. Not likely.
My first post here, thank you for all the information.

Ive had mine for a few weeks, just under 1k miles. I traded in a 2011 4Runner. I like the Taco a lot, no problems. The only thing that has been annoying is when it gets below 30 degrees outside there is a rattle in the passenger door until the cab heats up.

I would not change my decision to buy it.

So funny. We're on an almost identical refresh cycle. I had a '91 Toyota 4x4 v6 extended cab that I LOVED. I've owned 2 Z-71's since, but I'm going back to the Toyota. Hope I love this one half as much as I loved that '91.
