Just put my order in for my new tacoma and has I'm waiting I want to see how your hauling your other toys around. I'm coming from a subaru wagon that was great at carrying my mountain bikes and kayaks on top along with camping gear and fishing rods in the hatch. I'm looking at hitch mount bike racks but have seen some bed mount options. Would like to see what other people are doing before I start making purchases. Anyone putting touring sized kayaks in the back? What about fishing rod storage options? Post pictures of any and all fun stuff packed up!

I have a cap with racks, so kayaks on top, bikes on hitch mount, flyrods go back in the tube. I want to get a rod vault but$$$$$.

Im not sold on cap just yet. Maybe have to diy a rod holder and get hitch mounted load extender for carrying the kayaks. Also have a fishing kayak that's about 80lbs, it's tough loading it on topurpose of the car now. Can't imagine putting it on a cap.

Another handy addition for the bed are the KB VooDoo bars

You can use them for attaching mounts for bikes, or for kayak/ski holders (edit: maybe not kayaks ... I'm a goof for thinking that 2nd edit: for heavy loads use these http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/heavy-duty-bed-brackets-pair-fits-years-2005-2015 or http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/xrxs-bed-cross-bars-pair-fits-years-2005-2015) ... pretty versatile bit of kit. they're also easily removed if you have a tonneau cover, since they attach to the factory removable cleats. They're 14GA steel, so pretty tough stuff :)

I've been looking around on the voodoo site. Some of the other heavier duty bars are more interesting to me but I wondered about the strength of their design. Since they bolt to the factory rail and cleat, what are they rated at for weight? I don't see that listed anywhere. Not sure how effective they'll be for kayaks. Looks like you would need the full bed rack and height to properly lash them down.

That's a good question, and I honestly have no idea :)

I'm sure KB could answer it for you, and it's entirely possible that their bars aren't rated for kayaks. I was just speculating about that, so that's my bad for putting some possibly false info out there.

I would suggest our XRXS or Heavy Duty bars for kayaks. Plenty strong enough.
