I have a 1996 Extended Cab Tacoma. I just bought it and noticed moisture in the storage area under the right rear jumpsuit. I'm pretty sure the water is coming in through the huge unfilled hole in this area. See link for picture.

Does anyone know where I can buy plug for this hole? Or is this something so inexpensive I should just run down to the dealer and spend the $5 or $10? Before I run to the dealer, is this a standard part?

There's a rubber plug/cap that fits in that hole, I'm sure you could find one at a hardware store, or the dealership shouldn't be too expensive. It's a good place to run wires through for backup lights, power for compressors, etc.

Junkyard? Dealer? NAPA or parts house if you have the hole diameter, they have generic plugs. It needs to be rubber, and have a lip inside and outside.

There is likely a matching one on the other side if a sample would be helpful.

I'd cover the hole, from the outside, with metallic duct tape as a temporary keep the splash out measure.

Thanks for the replies! I tried the junkyard and parts store today, but no joy. I was hoping for a part number, but it sounds like the dealer might be the best option.

Caution. The counter jockey will likely be clueless as it's likely not a high demand item.

If you have a good one, your photo will help. And as I mentioned, one from the other side (if there) would make a handy 'sample' to show.

In a parts house, you'd never tell them specifics. That confuses them on things like this. You'd just take in your sample and say I need one like this, in this size.
