I recently had my 2007 Tacoma checked by a Toyota dealer, as the result of a Toyota recall and they found the frame was badly rusted. Under the recall Toyota will replace the frame but I'm told if any components need to be cut off (like the exhaust system etc) I will need to pay for them. This doesn't seem right and Toyota refuses to do any thing else. I only have 80000 miles on it and really don't even want t deal with a new frame. Any suggestions? I heard there is a class action lawsuit? Any chance of getting an allowance on a new vehicle?

I was worried about the additional charges also...but the dealer I went to.. did not charge me anything for frame replacement.

I just had my 07 done, no need to cut exhaust etc, they replaced the frame, springs, brake lines etc stuff needed for frame change, no charge for anything extra unless you request it. theres extensive info on this topic in other threads

Frame is ordered but dealer insists there could be additional cost of $2-4000. for "components" that will need to be replaced as a result of removing the frame. Vehicle was used in the NE US but now in Colorado and dealer is in Glenwood Springs.

I would call toyota corporate and make them aware. If you start a case they might pick up the bill on additional parts.

thanks for the info guys. I ask because I'm shopping for a 2nd gen. These things hold there value. I'm going to look at a very clean 07 today been in southern Cali its whole life. Only 86k miles trd sport dclb. Just what I'm looking for. He's asking 17k.

You should not have to pay for anything.
Do a search on frame rust replacement and you will find plenty of reading material.
My '07 was done for $0.

The dealer is trying to swindle you hoping you're naive and don't question them. It should cost you nothing, the frame is being replaced because of a flaw in Toyota's part. You have zero accountability to pay for anything unless you request specific other work to be done.

Contact Toyota Corp and get them to verify for you

I had mine done on my 04. They had the truck for about a month. The dealer provided a rental. I was charged zero.
