I'm not against change, as long as it's good. They added some nice new features. But the new sheet metal? Just no.

    :puke:

    :puke:

It looks like Toyota (along with everyone else) is trying to follow the Ford design trend: Let's make the grill and tailgate as huge and ugly as possible.

Agreed. I for one love the following pic, I think it looks great from this view, put then when you see that front end (especially in person). There's just no way I could walk out my driveway and try and force myself to like that everyday.

Square wheel wells destroy the smoother side look of the previous generation. Gas mileage no better. After my spring and frame recalls are completed hopefully sometime this year? I will either keep it (08) or look seriously at some of the full size 1/2 tons that get better mileage than the mid size Tacoma. It needs a diesel option. Don't want to develop? Just drop in an off the shelf cummins. LMFAO about truck buyers being interested in a hybrid. Looks like Toyota has lost touch with reality.

the grille will be tough to clean (very intricate) but otherwise I think they did a good job (cosmetically)

I have to agree the fender wells are a little off-putting. But nowhere as bad as GM. Perhaps someone needs to tell the design engineers that wheels are by necessity round.

    Fantastic photo dump!!!!

Just like when they re-designed the 4runner, everyone is overreacting. This is a fantastic redesign, it looks bad arss. I can't wait to see these rolling around with a slight lift and more aggressive wheels. There are certain aspects of the redesign that I'm not thrilled about, like the grill. However, you know that will change in the coming years and people can swap them out. The interior is stunning and the main reason I regret my 2014 purchase.. Nice Job Toyota!

I recall the 2014 4Runner model year refresh reaction on t4r.org. Everyone swore our 2010-2013 looked way better because of the grille and sales would tank. Toyota moved over 8000 last month which is roughly a 60% improvement over the pre refresh 5th gens. So much for the armchair executive predictions.

They also argued that since they carried over the frame, engine and transmission that it wasn't a new generation. Sound familiar?

I wasn't on T4R back when the 5th gen (err, 4.5 gen, I guess!) debuted, so I am unaware of any claims that it wasn't a 5th gen. But yes, it carried over quite a lot from the 4th gen. New body, updated 1GR, new interior. Maybe carrying over some things is why my first year 4Runner had zero defects over the 4 years and 40k I had it. Great truck and I miss it to this day.

Oh yea, I'd be in a 2015 TRD Pro 4Runner over my 2010 any day of the week. Super sexy truck. I hope they get the heft down on the 6th gen, though.

And a COMPLETELY different truck with a Diesel engine, boxed frame with internal frame stiffeners. Sometimes I wish I lived in an 'under developed' nation where I could get the truck that was built off of. :/
