I recently purchased a 2009 Tacoma access cab 4X4 pickup in October of 2014. The truck was bought wrecked and the owner said that they rebuilt the truck. I soon found out that it was rebuilt but not done correctly. So here I start the re-rebuild of this truck.

So some GOOBER tried to straighten the frame and only messed it up more. It couldn't be fixed, so I finally found a frame from a auto recycle wrecking place in Canada. By the way they are great people and super good prices and awesome for being helpful. Alberta Auto Wreckers!!!!

Here is the truck as I bought it and it's new backbone, the frame.

I will keep you all posted as the project unfolds. I am going to start the first week of March.

The frame came off a 2009 with 40,000 miles and does have a small amount of surface rust on the welds. I have been looking at rust protection on the internet and no one seems to have a good handle on what is the best one time shot to get this done. Powder coating cost too much $$$ and most say that if that chips water will get under it and do it's thing. I looked at a product at the Toyota dealer called Noxudol 300S and it looks more like a undercoating for all the parts than just something you would want to use to seal your frame with.
If anyone has any suggestions on stuff they have used I am all ears.

Here it is people. I got the frame all swapped over. I had a body shop take the cab and box off simply because I didn't have the equipment to do it myself. The entire job really wasn't that difficult, just took time. If I had to do it again I would be able to cut the time it would take in half.

Here are the photos from beginning to end.

The frame that is bent is on the left and the frame that I am replacing is the one on the right.

You can see in the first photo here that I had a bent motor mount. There were several parts that needed to be replaced from the front end collision.

All in all it was a fun project.

I took the rolling chassis back to the body shop and they will finish by putting the cab and box back on. There is some dents and scratches that need to be repaired and I should be good to go.

I'll post a final photo of the truck when I get it back from the shop.

Here is the finished truck. It turned out really nice and drives very well.

Really awesome work man! I couldn't help but notice that I don't see a crossbrace where the spare tire goes. Is this something not all Tacomas have? Does your spare just attach to that one crossbar that goes straight across?
