"She's finally long traveling her truck!? WHAAA?"

    NOT QUITE! :p

I picked up my trucks long lost sibling this week! :D

1998 Tacoma V6 SR5 TRD 4x4 just like my other in every way except it's black!

So after much debate between SAS and LT I think I'm going with LT. So the build has begun! My goal with this truck is to make it essentially my beater rig that I won't have to worry about on trails. I'm aiming towards long travel but also want the ability to do some rock crawling as well (hence hybrid).

    Boom!

Here's a little walk around video for your viewing pleasure.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EpXgxl7F-k

Funny story before I get into the build, on the way home after purchasing it we hit the highway and my dad was right behind. I was making sure I wasn't speeding or anything since I was driving with no plates and didn't want to stick out. People start flying past me. I'm talking to my dad on the phone and was like "is everyone speeding like crazy? How fast am I going?!" And he's like "You're going 65!" And my speedo said I was going 75 LOL Darn tiny tires. No wonder everyone was flying past.

Went through and pulled out the seats and console to give it a good deep clean. You can see how dirty it was underneath the console. Also pulled off the steering cover and it deteriorated the steering wheel  so I'll need to find a new one eventually because it's gross looking lol.

    image.jpg

Picture after vacuuming. Still need to take the shampooer to the carpet as well.

Then after cleaning up all the interior pieces, we touched up a few parts on the body where there was exposed, unpainted metal.

Previous owner had one of those fancy entrances to his home that he came in too fast one day and ended up scraping into one of the walls on the drivers front corner. Started taking everything on the front apart (mostly to replace the fogged headlights) and discovered there was a lot more broken than it appeared. He pretty much duct taped, zip tied, and epoxied everything back together haha. Even the center support is bent, which funny enough we straightened out and the hood wouldn't close LOL so rebent it back and will come back to that later.

Got all new front pieces on order.

Took apart my door switch panel too as the window wasn't responding very well to the button. Found it's pretty much fried. Thought we had it fixed after taking it apart a few times but it decided to die on us while the window was partially down (and it's been raining thanks to Murpheys Law) so I had to stick a trash bag over the window. I'm sure the neighbors love us lol. Got one of those on order as well.

    Stay tuned for more updates!

    This is going to be...

    :cookiemonster:

...I want to see it happen.

P.S. I think that Cookie Monster is super cool, but I don't know what the emoji is supposed to signify, so, fyi, I'm saying "super cool".

Alright so to catch up! Ordered all sorts of new parts. Headlights, grille, tailgate wires and corner light. One tailgate wire was missing from the shipment but they sent another out. The grille had some damage in shipping so sent it back and have another coming around Wednesday.

My "please don't rain in my truck" fix. Neighbor asked me if I was in an accident LOL
    image.jpg

Got the new switch installed and it works great now.

    Stuffs
    image.jpg

I was bummed because it was 70F all week until the weekend and a blizzard hit. So couldn't work on it.

Today we straighted out some of the damaged peices behind the lights and grille a little more, will come back to that later on, also pulled off all the epoxy junk holding everything in. Made a new list of things to order after putting in one headlight and corner light.

    Old vs new
    image.jpg

And I played around with some wheels while it was snowing for fun.
