I tried Ebay, Amazon, and 6 other Auto Parts and Body Supply Sites, and Nobody seems to have a passenger side fender, except the Toyota Dealer for a BASE Model, Standard Cab Tacoma.

They have availability for the SR 5 DLX, and Pre-Runner,- etc. But no Base model fenders.

I don't get the difference and fit issue with a simple Base Model Fender being different.

Dealers Want approx. 300 bucks for one.
Ebay for DLX etc. Fenders go for about 40 bucks. What gives?

From my understanding, all fenders are the same besides the TRD models with fender flares which have little squares cut into them to allow clipping on the flares. If you are unsure, go to a body shop and ask.

It makes sense you're right, I'll ask around town at the body shops. The big sites on line, with a live person on the 1-800 numbers, said it doesn't come across their inventories, as being interchangeable. (???). I'll ask the journeymen, who fix em. And report back here with what I found out.

Fenders should be the same through 2000 then on from there will have the square holes like mentioned above. Trd has nothing to do with it.

Keep in mind a 5 lug truck will have a different fender from the 6 luggers incase thats what you own...

Well, figured it out. Went to a body shop with a lot of experience. Told me to take my VIN #'s to the Toyota Dealer.
Found out my Strippy Base Model, is considered a DLX.

Here is the part number for a base model/DLX PASSENGER SIDE FENDER.

Ebay or Amazon, about 60 bucks either way.

    Dealer, $320.00
