    Hey all!

So I recently open my hood to do a little maintenance and noticed that a couple bolts seem to be rusted pretty well. I'm about to hit 20k on my 2015 so it's a pretty new truck...I live quite close to the ocean so I'm sure that has something to do with the rust build up. I'm not sure on the specific names of the bolts but I took a picture of the couple that I found. I think they are the pulley bolts/nuts? One is the nut that is in the middle of the alternator, the others I don't know.

Just wanted to see if this is something I should be concerned about?? Like I said, the truck has almost 20k on it...

Here are some pictures of them

It's less Tacoma and more mod
That's pretty normal, any uncoated mild steel is gonna rust in just normal atmosphere.

Just looking at your pics a bit closer.

Even the rubber hoses and aluminum alternator housing, plus look at the inside of the alternator pulley; show signs of splash from dirty water, and in your case maybe a little salt water.

Yes, you are certainly near an ocean.

Get yourself some LPS 3 or Fluid film, give the uncoated part a quick shot, it'll stay in place once the carrier evaporates and prevent any further rust. Neither product will adversely affect rubber parts.
