I made a thing for switches because the thing I wanted didn't exist.

I received two boxes from Shapeway today with the same order number. Each box has a different part. Anybody know what the other thing is?

Shape reminds me of an old light meter I had.

Tagging this thread. Anyone know if the katskin heater buttons will fit this? I would love to utilize the 3 button for my heaters and lightbar.

    Picture heavy post coming...
Using the Shapeways narrow switch plate, 18 separate 5mm blue LEDs, 2 Mictuning switches and 3 long days I made the interior of my ruck look as close as I could to the flight deck of a commercial aircraft.
While the door panels were off, I installed a product called, "GT Mat" an 8mm thick adhesive sound installation. Extremely quite ride now.

    Pics:
#1 Before the narrow switch plate was installed.
#2 Driver's side lower kick panel removed to install new switch plate.
#3 Mictuning 3amp push switch installed as well as the digital AMP gauge.
#4 Same as above, different view.
    #5 Amp gauge.
#6 Dash lights on, only the bottom of the light switch is illuminated. To illuminate with dash lights on, tap into the green wire in the harness that services the bed light rocker switch.
#7 Switch activated with power going to the LED lights which were installed in the center console and all 4 doors. In the doors the LEDs were installed at the top of the exit handle, the door pull pockets and cup holder pockets.
#8 Night view of two cup holders behind the center console armrest.
#9 Night view of front passenger's door.
#10 Night view of center console.
#11 Night view of driver's door. ** The rear doors are illuminated exactly as the front doors **
#12 Not the best pic, night view of the inside of the center console storage box. The LED is dead center in the rear of the box.

The switch that operates the LEDs is rated at a max load of 3amps. All 18 5mm LEDs have a total combined amp draw of less than 1amp, no need to install a relay. The LED switch was wired using an add a fuse kit with the smallest fuse I could buy, a 2 amp fuse. The add a fuse kit is installed in power outlet fuse #1 under the dash.
The AMP gauge is powered by the power outlet fuse #2 and an add a fuse kit with a 2 amp fuse.
For safety purposes all of the line used was 18 gauge sealed in 1/4" black plastic split loom. Also gives that factory appearance too.

For those of you buying these switches for the 3rd gen's, do you feel the white or blue backlighting matches the OEM switches the best?

I haven't tried white yet, but all the blue aftermarket switches I've tried are too blue and too bright. I'm kind of OCD about interior stuff (hence the thing for switches existing in the first place) so my gripes should probably be taken with a grain of salt.

That actually helps a lot. I would rather it be too white than to be too blue. Thanks for the info!

How about some Nightshade over the switches to dim them

I'm actually thinking about switching to the three switch plate and will likely get a handful of switches to screw around with until I come up with a situation that I can live with.

Any plans to squeeze more switches in anywhere else? What about that phone charger cubby that I'm not going to use.

I'll be taking a close look at the overhead possibilities whenever it is that I get around to mounting my 2m/440, but other than that there's nothing I'm really considering at the moment.

At some point I was asked if I would make a blank fill plate for end user customization. This is it. The business part of the plate is 4mm thick which should be enough to support some generic toggle switches. Please note, I normally don't offer items for sale until I've tried them out myself. This part is simply a modified version of the existing parts and I decided to forgo that step in this case. I don't think you'd have anything to worry about with the part, but FYI and all that.

Link isn't working for me? Might be on my end so I'll try later on another device, thanks.
