    Hey all,
Working on my thin lip satoshi with m4 mesh. I have the grill assembled minus the letters. The surround is plasti dipped and the I sprayed the mesh with flat black rustoleum paint. Will be applying the letters with 3m mounting tape and if I were to do it again, I'd probably wait to paint the mesh until the letters were on, so the 3m tape was on bare metal instead of paint. Since I didn't do that, do you guys think there will be a problem with adherence of the 3m tape on the paint? Would plasti dip be a better surface to put the tape on? Or should I wire brush it bare to put the tape on?
    Thanks,
    Josh

Plastidip is intended as a temporary solution. It can easily release from the mesh and you loose you emblem as well.

If you went through the effort of making a nice Satoshi, why did you plastidip the surround? Paint it, so it doesnt chip so easy....

Will plasti dip peel off over time?

Its surprisingly durable, but yes it will chip and then peel eventually. If you do a good job it will last a while tho.

To OP, id just paint it and then put the letters on. If you do a good job prepping and let it dry well, the letters should stick well.

I personally don't think you will have an issue adhering it to the paint. All badges are adhered to our trucks with this same tape and it is over paint. Plasti-dip does not really "chip" it peels off like a rubber coating and would definitely not be a ideal solution for 3m tape to bound to.

Ok cool. Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to leave the surround plasti dipped as it's already done and we'll just see how it holds up. Will peel it off if it starts to look like poop. The mesh is already painted so I'll just try sticking the letters directly on the paint.
    Thanks again.
