Anyone have any suggestions on repainting a grill? I have an aftermarket black mesh like grill but it is all plastic. The paint on the top is faded and kind of scratched up. Should I sand down and repaint or just plasti dip?

    Fucking look it up
Sand down and plastidip never just plastidip over stuff cuz it will stick but won't stay stuck with a good bond on the grill unless properly prepped and sanded

Sounds like you are talking about the center portion of the grill and not the surround. The basic sequence for painting plastic is a lot like most other things. Degrease with a solvent safe for ABS (definitely NOT acetone), wash with soap and water, scuff off all the gloss and loose material, rinse or use compressed air or a tack cloth to remove dust/grit, spray with adhesive promoter, prime (if the paint system requires it) and paint. Basically the only difference between painting over bare paintable plastics and metal or sound paint is the use of adhesive promoter. If you are going to paint the grill surround its the same except if it is chrome or has sound paint (Not paint over chrome, that isn't a sound substrate). If its chrome don't paint it. It won't last. If its paint over plastic do just like above except skip the adhesive promoter.

Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
I'm about to do this process myself.

About 95% of all front grills are made out of some sort of resin-plastic.

I want to repaint the entire thing as the grill does not have any chrome on it. I added a link to show you the kind of grill I have on the Tacoma now.

My post covers that. Paint the surround just like the "mesh."

I have the same eBay grill. Clean it. Scuff it. Paint it. Clear it.

I used black krylon spray paint
