Alright, since i now have a 4x4 trd off road i will no longer be a co-pilot on trail riding and will be running em in my own vehicle. With that being said, my truck is stock (lift and tire) so I would imagine I'll definately need recovery gear at aome point and it seems that people who are serious about off roading have a few must have tools. So if y'all would be so kind as to kinda show this noob, and any others that are curious about the same thing, some good gear and ways to stow the gear.

So many options.....probably some sort of tow strap, a way to hook a strap to your truck, like a d-ring hitch insert for the rear. Maybe some traction ramps, great for self extraction out of mud, snow etc. Maxtrax are the best, but there are off brands too. you may air down tires, so you may need some sort of air compressor. MV-50 style is a good budget one. more will chime in I am sure  congrats on the new rig

The link is great...seems like Amazon has a since of humor for people buying gear to get out of mud/snow/sand...recovery gear and and ankle/knee braces in the same results lol

You'll be tempted to get a high lift jack - but there's really no where to jack from on a stock truck. If you want to use it for recovery, you can use this:

    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/b...rKTrByH5I8Zx3rMXqsbsDelPKhd_f56-wnhoCmrHw_wcB

But it's useless for changing a tire.

Bring big pieces of wood - like 2x8s a couple feet long, varying sizes, to sit on the soft/uneven under the truck in case you have to use your stock jack to change a tire.

    Tire repair kit.

Water and snacks, and protective clothes in case you get stuck and end up "out there" longer than you planned.

There've been some really good and complete lists of equipment posted here, if you search a bit, you'll find some better lists that folks have put together thoughtfully.

It's really common to get "large" shackles. But take a look at your stock factory recovery point. (make sure you're looking at the recovery point, which is BOLTED on, not the little tie down loop that's tack-welded. It's not nearly as strong) Make sure that you get a shackle that's small enough to fit into that - otherwise you won't be able to connect to your (or someone elses) recovery strap.

I did a quick search for what i entitled this thread and didn't come up with a lot so i decided to start this for those who wish to share can and those searching for "Tools and Recovery" will hopefully have a helpful thread to read through. I do need to get some gear though. Trying to follow the motto of "Be Prepared"

Yep. I have them for my wife jeep Cherokee. The AT tires suck in the deep snow. Those have gotten us out.
