Just find something fun or useful to put under it - a scanner, shortwave, CB, etc. It doesn't have to be Mentos

I run an 80PRS. I contemplated going double din and processor, but the cost and lack of tuning from HU were the major drawbacks. The 80PRS has enough features to meet my needs.

I installed an Alpine W535HD in my wife's car and it's...alright. It sounds really good and has more than enough features for a basic system, but it's really slow. Slow to start up, slow to change inputs, just generally slow. I haven't messed with any recent models so I can't say whether Alpine improved. But I have read that Pioneer units are pretty fast. If I were to choose a double din right now, I'd probably go for the Pioneer 4100NEX. It has all of the features I need and should be pretty easy to swap out with my existing Pioneer unit.

There are so many processors out there that your head will spin comparing them all. If you are in the market for a processor, then I highly recommend doing your research on user feedback. Some processors have a ton of features for a small price, but are notorious for manufacturing quality issues. Bad software, noisy inputs, dead units, etc. Some times it's better to spend a little bit more for the assurance that the unit will always work.

I haven't used that unit so I don't know exactly how you would use it to set levels, but keep in mind that some distortion on a sub is fine. Your ears are less sensitive to distortion at lower frequencies. Just try to keep your amp gain below 3/4. Too much amp gain will introduce noise in the amp circuit (buzzing, etc.).

The stock alternator is just fine.
I ran a massive system in mine and with enough reserve capacity i had no problems with voltage. I.e my voltage never ever dropped below 12.6 even on big burps.
I used to demo hard as well with 2 xs power 3100s, stock 130 amp alt. Tons of wire, 2 gp pro 3kws at either .7 or .35 load ( i had a 3x rise) and still on fully tilt demo runs my voltage was fine. Now if i played all day long I'm sure i would have had some issues but i played a couple songs, let it run for a bit but nothing major, nor would i drive around bumping to music 150db +

I did not read through all 3 pages of responses, and therefore don't know if it's been answered or asked yet, but how did you wire the sub? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the TW3 is a DVC sub, with 2 pairs of compression spring terminals - did you wire in parallel (amp+ to red to red, same with black/amp-), or did you wire it in series (amp+ to red, black to other red, other black to amp-)?

That makes a huge difference on the sub's output.

If you're gonna go through the effort of upgrading the stock wiring, please save yourself some trouble and just run 2awg... that will give you headroom for future stuff

I tried turining the gain up on the amp but when i get almost half way i hear like a popping noise coming from the sub so i cut back the amp and i can hear just a little rattle at low volume...is there any thing i can change on the head unit so i can turn up the gain more?If i can get that right that sub does hit hard for a 10 and i never heard that coming from that sub before.
