I'm new to this forum. I sold my 2006 GTI to buy a 2005 PreRunner. Before that I had an 88 4Runner and and 87 4Runner. I love the Toyota community and it's nice to have a decent truck again...

Welcome! Sounds like a nice truck, post up some pics!

Shoulda kept those 4runners, they're practically collector's items to toyota truck lovers these days

At the time they were breaking down on my left and right and I didn't have the funds or time to mess around with it. I was actually gifted the 88 on the condition that I could get it running. It had been sitting for years when my neighbor said "If you get it started it's yours." ....3 hours later it was mine.

Got that guy up and running. Then sold it to buy a Silver 87 4Runner with a 22RE and manual transmission. That beautiful machine only had 112,000 miles on it. But as I later found out, the engine might be indestructible, but the radiator and other parts aren't, especially with previous owner did little to no maintenance on it.

Fun story (stupid owner story), had a pinhole leak in the radiator that I couldn't find, on the way back from Vegas (I live in So Cal). Had to stop and add water almost every 50 miles. That magnificent machine ran overheated for pretty much half the trip. By the time I got home it was just leaking water everywhere. I expected the worst. Only had to replace the head gasket and radiator. Then it ran like a champ. Other issues started creeping up and the vehicle was my daily driver. At the time I didn't have the flexibility to be without a vehicle and I needed something reliable. Yeah it was bulletproof, but the little things started adding up.

Got the GTI because I was driving a ton. Now after a career change I needed a truck. No second thoughts, needed a Toyota.
