As if I haven't thanked him enough, but I've had the safe for a while now, and it took me 15 mins with the help of @armyofsquirrels after he cracked some jokes..

I've had good luck with it and keep some in the shop at all times just in case. There's a bunch of other products that do the same thing (sometimes called naval jelly), but they all have the same requirement- there needs to be rust present for it to work. If you sand most or all of it off, it won't do anything to protect your sliders or any metal surface and will actually make paint harder to adhere. Some people overlook the instructions, but it's basically the lazy person's tool. From the pictures you posted, it looks like you did a good enough job where I would recommend not using this, but rather use a rust neutralizing primer. It usually comes in the red oxide color or a dark grey that may call "black". Rustoleum and Duplicolor both have good ones.

 

So... The squish, Clunk.. thing finally blew apart today. Coming home from college class, I was doing about 45-50mph, when there was a nice loud bang, followed by what sounded like someone dropping a bag of nuts n bolts under the truck and they were pinging on the under carriage. That then proceeded to go away and was replaced by a fantastic gut wrenching ( you have to understand.. my truck IS my child..) grinding growling, similar rhythm to having a flat tire... that just would not go away.

A video, few texts and a group text later I was back on the road headed to the shop.

Yet again another big thanks to @Blackout14 , @loosnut and @HomerTaco for getting me back on the road again. I can't tell you guys how much it means to have you all around.

I was grilling burgers when Jerry sent me a text. Went fishing through the shed to find the hubs and Bonnie was like "What the hell you in the shed for! I thought you were cooking the burgers!"
Then Jerry showed up at the same time my Mom was picking up my kids so it was very active for a few minutes.
Glad to help Liz - that's why I keep all these parts floating around. Never know when someones going to need them.

 

Oh No! Hope they didn't get burnt!

If you don't go through muddy water and submerge the hubs often realistically they will last for many many miles.
I personally had The driver side replaced twice and the passenger side replaced once prior to rebuilding the entire suspension with Jerry.
The hub that you now have was the newest one prior to my suspension rebuild - I would say probably has 15,000 miles on it.

 

Only time I've really done that is the pines and RC. They to my best knowledge where the original ones, if this holds true they got 81,161 miles on them. Reguradless, I just sent the money for the new pair, should ship Wednesday.
