What's the best gears to run for 33/35s, 3rz, 5 spd, standard cab, truck weighs 3800-4000# average.

Truck is a daily, sees some highway, a lot of weekend mountains, trails, dunes, little snow wheeling.

    Are 410s plausible or do you need 430, 456, 488, or 529s?

I just put 4.88's on mine with 33/12.50. I love the combo.

    What's your speed/rpms like in 5th and?

I'm trying to figure mine out. I just bought it and kid didn't tell me or know what gears were in it, definitely not stock 373s per the vin...On the highway I'm doing 70mph at 3K in 5th. It seems pretty low geared, 1st is useless, I can hold 4th up hills at 50-60, but my top speed is only like 75 maybe 80mph.

Put jack up the rear and mark the pinion /yoke. And use your valve stem as a reference on the tire. 1 full spin of tire.
Spin the tire and count the number of times the pinion spins.
Aka aprox 4.5 times is 4.56 and over 4.75 is 4.88 etc

I wonder if this has 488s then...reason being I'm looking into an elocker with 488s in it 1500 miles ago for $700. Thanks for the tip on how to check, I will definitely do that tomorrow when I change the oil, 299K :(

Next I'll be getting a warn 9K winch, and Fox 2.5 coil overs/shocks and camburg ucas. Still deciding on whether to stick with 33s or go to 35s. I average 20 MPG on 33s as it is and haven't broken anything yet, worth going to 35s in your guys brain? Don't really gain all that much clearance from what I've read, unless an inch counts for anything these days lol.

Its more accurate if you spin 10 times and just move decimal place over one on final number. If you have open diff the number of times pinion spins has to be doubled.

It is an open diff...Guess I'll just have to try it a few times and see what I come up with

    The Bed is stock...ish
I'd vote 5.29s w/ 35s and let the engine rev.
